Alien (1979)Directed by Ridley ScottThis is an entry for the weekly @inktober #inktober52 prompt "Sci-Fi" and also a sketch inspired by "Alien Day" (26 April or 4/26, because in the movie, LV-426 is the moon on which the crew of the Nostromo encounter the alien creature). My favourite movie in the series is the 1986 sequel "Aliens" directed by James Cameron, however, for this sketch I thought I'll try something different and did this ballpoint pen drawing based on one of H R Giger's paintings that he did as concept art for the movie, showing the facehugger stage of the Alien creature. This is on A5 size notebook and you can swipe to see a scan. #karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#alien #hrgiger #xenomorph #facehugger#sketch #ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpenart#artistsoninstagram#shotoniphone #inktober52scifi#657 / 28-Apr-22

Jurassic Park (1993) × Seinfeld (1989-98)Directed by Steven Spielberg × Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld"Hold on to your butts!"I recently completed watching the show "Seinfeld" on Netflix. I enjoyed it a lot, the characters and the sense of humour, and the fact that one can relate many things in the show to daily life.Actor Wayne Knight plays Jerry Seinfeld's neighbour Newman in the show, and whenever Newman stops by Jerry's apartment, he always says a disinterested "Hello, Newman" to him. And when some situation goes wrong that Newman's responsible for, Jerry would make a face and exclaim "Newman!".Wayne Knight also plays the programmer character Dennis Nedry in the 1993 blockbuster "Jurassic Park". The mayhem in the second half of the movie where the dinosaurs escape and attack the human characters, is caused by Nedry since he shuts off the security systems in the park to steal dinosaur embryos.I thought of combining the above two elements in a sketch. I had the idea sometime back but was not sure if people would relate to it, but I anyway went ahead. The drawing was done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A5 notebook. Colour part is with ballpoint pen. Swipe to see a scan and also a fictional episode description (like how they have it on Netflix). I should have probably put a non existent number like Season 10 Episode 5 or something, and included some storyline for the Elaine character in the episode (but the whole thing was made up at the last minute so I missed it).David Koepp adapted Michael Crichton's 1990 novel for the "Jurassic Park" movie. whte_rbt.obj is the file containing the routines that allow Nedry to exploit the park systems.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#whatif #crossover #jurassicpark #seinfeld #newman #nedry#pencilsketch #drawing #pencildrawing #artistsoninstagram#656 / 22-Apr-22

Watched “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” (@nickcagemovie) yesterday! This is a movie featuring Nicolas Cage playing a fictional version of himself and Pedro Pascal is also in it. I didn’t think that this movie would be released theatrically in India but @kashyapchandra spotted it playing, and we watched it. I enjoyed the movie, and reminded me of a late 1990s or early 2000s small or mid budgeted action comedy (they don’t make these anymore, do they?). I liked the relationship they built with the characters played by Cage and Pascal, and I found the movie was relatively grounded (in fact I felt it would have worked even without the ‘meta’ aspect of the story). Glad to have watched it. Now, someone should be on the job of getting “The Northman” released here! #shotoniphone #hellohyderabad #karthikabhiram

10 (mostly) Ultrawide frames from Forum Sujana Mall from last Saturday, when I went to watch “KGF Chapter 2” there. The Ultrawide perspective is always interesting to experiment with! #shotoniphone #hellohyderabad #karthikabhiram #iphone12mini #vsco #ultrawide @apple @vsco

KGF: Chapter 2 (2022)Directed by Prashanth NeelTL;DR Version: It was a kickass movie and I totally loved it!Long Version [#NOSPOILERS]: I’ve been very excited for this movie and watched Chapter 1 again in preparation for it. I'll be honest, when I watched Part 1 earlier in 2018, I liked it but didn't love it. Second time, I liked it much better, loved the visuals, music, songs, the balls out attitude of it all, and especially how in the second half, they portrayed KGF as a surreal version of hell with the guards as demons.I can understand why some friends said they liked the character building and story moments in Part 1 better. Part 2 is nearly all action, perhaps it could have been shortened a bit. For most of the runtime, I was enjoying myself greatly but still leaning towards liking Part 1 more, but the way they ended it made this its own beast, and I loved it. Watching Part 1 again helped as the two movies essentially tell a single story. The visuals (cinematography, lighting, production design and VFX) and music are a treat. The emphasis on brown tones and the speed ramps in the action scenes gave off Zack Snyder vibes, the action scenes are great, everything is hyper stylised and dialled all the way up, and it's as if at the end they pushed it a notch further even!I think they were held back a bit because of the U/A rating, if not for that they could have amped up the violence even more. You have to be on board with it, as I totally was, and then you’ll enjoy it, which I totally did! It’s now added to my Best Movies of 2022 list! Here's my sketch based on the movie showing the hero, and the two antagonists. I think I should do more of these sketches with multiple characters as opposed to just single faces. The drawing is done with pencil and colour ballpoint pen. Swipe to see a scanned version.Since Sanjay Dutt’s character in the movie is inspired by Vikings, I thought of Robert Eggers’s upcoming “The Northman” and what it would be like in an alternate universe if he and Prashanth Neel collaborate on a project with music by Junkie XL. Swipe to see an idea for a poster. [ADDITIONAL NOTES IN FIRST COMMENT]#655 / 17-Apr-22

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 — Entry for @mangopenciler2.0’s #drawwithmango challenge with the theme “where I’m from”. When I thought of childhood memories, there are those associated with a place but I also thought of time or the generation we’re from. So I thought to draw something not related to a place, rather to a time, specifically the 1990s decade. I think we would have got a VCR at home when the 1990s started, and VHS tapes were our exposure to movies. Audio cassettes were the source of music for a long time and I think the last tapes I would have bought would have been towards the end of the 1990s or early 2000s. After that everything went digital. These are two small drawings done with 0.5 mm 4B pencil on A5 notebook. You can swipe to see a scanned version. #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #pencildrawing #pencilart #pencilsketch #miniaturedrawing #miniatureart #vhs #audiocassette

Visited @churrolto today along with @vineelreddy and @mangopenciler2.0 for lunch. Was nice to meet up! Also, I’m really happy that Vineel purchased one of my artworks — since he had hosted the very first Art Exhibition where I had the opportunity to exhibit my work back in 2017. #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #food #foodphotography #hellohyderabad
