[Drawing of @nameisnani from #VonPrime]V (2020)Directed by Mohanakrishna IndragantiThis movie was released on @primevideoin earlier this month and I watched it. It's an action thriller from the director of Nani's earlier film "Gentleman", with Sudheer Babu as a cop trying to catch a killer (Nani), who is leaving him clues. The movie was pretty interesting, and I liked it. It moved fast and was engaging. It had stylish cinematography and I liked the darker and violent tone. They should have probably gone all out and made it an 18+ movie instead of a 16+ (these are the Amazon ratings). I did see some criticism of the movie online but personally I enjoyed it. The acting was good and Nani had a strong screen presence. One of the shots when his character was introduced was very stylish, with cigarette smoke, so I thought I would draw it on toned paper. So here it is, done with Uni Pin 0.1 fineliner and 05 and 10 Gelly Roll on @strathmoreart Toned Tan A5 sketchbook.Swipe to see a scan of the image, and a couple of video clips while I was drawing it. I was trying a 'scribbling' kind of technique to get the shades, there are other pen artists that do this to achieve great realism on a large scale drawing (much larger than this though).#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#nani #gentleman#tonedtan #inkdrawing #penandink#554 / 20-Sep-20

The Mandalorian Season 2 (2020)Created by Jon FavreauI loved Season 1 of this "Star Wars" based show, "The Mandalorian". The production values were superb, it was a space western with great action, humour, and was very entertaining all around. Season 2 is coming up on October 30, and I can't wait! They released the trailer for it yesterday and I couldn't help but draw something based on it. I drew The Child (called "Baby Yoda", but since this show is set after the events of Episodes IV, V, VI, this is not actually Yoda but a child of the same species). Who else is waiting for the second season? One fascinating aspect about the production is the use of virtual stages using a technology called ILM Stagecraft. I'd highly recommend looking that up if you haven't already. And I also love the music by Ludwig Goransson. It feels like Star Wars, but at the same time it has its own identity. The drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen on A5 sketchbook. The Boys Season 2 (2020)Developed by Eric KripkeI enjoyed Season 1 of this very entertaining show based on a comic book series (that I've not read). The show involves superheroes, and is darkly comedic. Season 2's first look had this scene from Episode 3, with our protagonists in a boat. The Deep (this Universe's Aquaman-type hero) summons a whale to stop them. But, Butcher (Karl Urban) speeds up and rams the boat into the whale, in a very graphic but hilarious way. Poor Lucy the whale.I drew this shot, this was done with multi colour ballpoint pen. c u soon (2020)Directed by Mahesh NarayananThis movie was released a few days ago on Amazon Prime, and I was excited to watch it after seeing the trailer a little while back. This is a story told entirely through things happening on a computer screen, similar to "Searching" (which in my opinion was one of 2018's best movies). The film was apparently shot on iPhone (though, the end credits have a Lumix logo, indicating that the filmmakers may have used one of the G series cameras for capturing some of the footage) in Kochi, a couple of months back, with a very small crew, adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. The film stars Roshan Mathew as Jimmy, who works at a bank in the UAE. He meets Anumol (Darshana Rajendran) on Tinder, and they get into a relationship. Kevin (Fahadh Faasil) is Jimmy's cousin, who has to intervene when Anu goes missing. The movie was well made, an engaging thriller. The acting is excellent all round, and the filmmakers got creative with the different chat and video call displays, employing zooms when needed to add a bit of dynamism to the movie. Just as in "Searching", when you think about it, all the software user interfaces and animations must have had to be created from scratch in After Effects or whatever software they used, and they're all done very well (perhaps a certain font here or there may have been misplaced, otherwise it's all very accurate). All of this is backed with an interesting story that's well told in just under 100 minutes. A definite must watch film!I drew Fahadh as Kevin from the movie. The drawing was done with Bic ballpoint pen, Gelly Roll pen, red ballpoint pen on A5 sketchbook. Swipe to see the scanned version and also a short video of the initial part of the drawing.
