c u soon (2020)Directed by Mahesh NarayananThis movie was released a few days ago on Amazon Prime, and I was excited to watch it after seeing the trailer a little while back. This is a story told entirely through things happening on a computer screen, similar to "Searching" (which in my opinion was one of 2018's best movies). The film was apparently shot on iPhone (though, the end credits have a Lumix logo, indicating that the filmmakers may have used one of the G series cameras for capturing some of the footage) in Kochi, a couple of months back, with a very small crew, adhering to COVID-19 restrictions. The film stars Roshan Mathew as Jimmy, who works at a bank in the UAE. He meets Anumol (Darshana Rajendran) on Tinder, and they get into a relationship. Kevin (Fahadh Faasil) is Jimmy's cousin, who has to intervene when Anu goes missing.The movie was well made, an engaging thriller. The acting is excellent all round, and the filmmakers got creative with the different chat and video call displays, employing zooms when needed to add a bit of dynamism to the movie. Just as in "Searching", when you think about it, all the software user interfaces and animations must have had to be created from scratch in After Effects or whatever software they used, and they're all done very well (perhaps a certain font here or there may have been misplaced, otherwise it's all very accurate). All of this is backed with an interesting story that's well told in just under 100 minutes. A definite must watch film!I drew Fahadh as Kevin from the movie.
