[#DailyMovieSketch × #AnInchAugust × #InfinitySagaArt]Avengers: Endgame (2019)Directed by Joe and Anthony RussoCongratulations to Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers — “Avengers: Endgame” is now the top grossing film, earning more than $2.7 billion worldwide. It’s a fantastic movie, and I have not spared it from praise, and have done multiple sketches based on it and the other films in the Infinity Saga. Marvel has announced their plans for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stretching to 2021.@tiny.sharma10 announced the return of #AnInchAugust, which is a challenge for one to make artworks during the month of August, that fit in one square inch. For the 2019 version, even photography can be submitted.Last year I did a few sketches for this, and intend to do so this year as well. I would be very busy with work in the month of August though, so will try to do what I can. This is an early submission for the challenge. A drawing of Thanos from the scene where he tells Corvus Glaive to “Rain Fire”, to which Glaive says “But Sir, our troops!” and Thanos replies “Just do it!” This has been used in memes as well! This was drawn with 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil, @prismacolor pencils on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned. I recently got a Tombow Mono Eraser, which I also used for this drawing.#dailymoviesketch #karthikabhiram#avengers #endgame #avengersendgame #thanos#rainfire #butsirourtroops #justdoit #meme #dankmemes#pencil #pencilart #miniatureart #prismacolor#aninchaugust2019#460 / 28-Jul-19

Dark: Season 2 (2019)Created by Baran bo Odar and Jantje FrieseA few weeks ago, I watched the entirety of Season 2 of the Netflix show “Dark”. I absolutely loved the first season, I thought it was very well done, introducing us to multiple families and characters in the town of Winden, and a plot involving time travel in three different eras — present day, the 80s and the 50s. Season 2 continues the storyline and introduces new characters and new story elements. I was amazed by the way they worked in new events and characters around what they already established in Season 1. It’s a credit to the superb writing on the show, deftly balancing so many characters and timelines and still keeping it engaging always.Like with Season 1, the show’s production values are fantastic, I loved the gorgeous cinematography and mood. The acting is excellent by all and I actually felt the tone and pacing for Season 2 was even better. There is quite a bit to keep track of, you can’t just casually watch this show. But if you do give it the required attention, it’s very rewarding. If you haven’t seen this show I highly recommend you check it out. It’s a must-watch for science fiction fans. I drew the mysterious character Adam from the show. The drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen and Gelly Roll pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#dailymoviesketch #karthikabhiram#dark #darknetflix #darkseason2 #adam #noah #sicmundus#ballpointpen #ballpoint #pen #penandink #inksketch#459 / 27-Jul-19

The Lion King (1994)Directed by Roger Allers and Rob MinkoffI am watching Jon Favreau's 2019 CG remake of "The Lion King" tonight, so yesterday, I rewatched the original movie on @hotstar. It's been years since I saw the original. It is such a good movie. Emotional, dramatic, funny, with great songs. I drew Simba from the opening of the movie, this was drawn with multi colour ballpoint pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#DailyMovieSketch #karthikabhiram #ballpointpen #thelionking #disney#458 / 21-Jul-19

Stranger Things 3 (2019)Created by The Duffer BrothersI finished watching Season 3 of "Stranger Things" some days ago, like the second season, this is titled "Stranger Things 3", meaning it's more like a movie sequel than a TV show's season. The eight episodes moved by very quickly, and I thought the pacing in this season was better than in the second. This time around, we find the characters in July 1985, the Starcourt Mall is a location important to the story, there is a new monster in town, with a connection to the Upside Down.I love "Stranger Things" for its 1980s nostalgia, its superb ensemble cast of fantastic young actors, its great blend of the kids movie and the more R-rated horror elements, and its characters, engaging story and action. "Stranger Things 3" is more action and horror oriented, particularly, a Cronenberg or Carpenter's "The Thing"-esque body horror. Although the two are different, I was reminded of the monster in @neillblomkamp's "Zygote" short film also. As usual, the production values are top-notch, the cinematography and visual effects are great, and the music is excellent. I liked the new characters introduced in this season too. This is obviously a must-watch for fans of the show, and I look forward to what they will do with the fourth season (which is likely to be the final or penultimate season). I drew Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin (one of my favourite characters in the show), from a scene in the last episode, which I really liked! I don't want to spoil it so I'm not giving any more details here. The drawing was done with two multi colour ballpoint pens on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned. The scene has a reference to the 1984 movie "The Neverending Story", swipe to see a version of the drawing with the song lyrics (I was listening to this song while drawing this). #dailymoviesketch #strangerthings #strangerthings3 #dustybun#457 / 20-Jul-19

A slightly different sketch for today! This is the “Me and the Boys” meme which is based on a screenshot from the 1967 “Spider-Man” animated show. It features the villains Rhino, Vulture, Electro and Green Goblin. The original screenshot from the show didn't have the Rhino character, that was Photoshopped in for the meme. Drawn with @ns1pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#DailyMovieSketch#spiderman #ballpointpen #meme #memes #meandtheboys #meandtheboysmemes#456 / 15-Jul-19

Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)Directed by Jon WattsI watched “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in 3D on Sunday night and really enjoyed it! Picking up where “Avengers: Endgame” left off, we find Peter Parker (Tom Holland) being pressured to take on the mantle of the next Iron Man, something that he is not ready for, and he just wants to enjoy his Euro class trip with his friends. A threat emerges in the form of creatures called the Elementals though, apparently from a different world, and Mysterio a.k.a. Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) offers to help Nick Fury fight them, and they rope in Peter on this, with the Avengers not being available. I thought the movie was an improvement over “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. The action scenes, visuals, pacing are all better in my opinion. It also felt better connected to the overall Infinity Saga / MCU. Tom Holland as always is fantastic in the role, and Jake Gyllenhaal was terrific too. All actors seemed to be having a grand time here. The movie was a lot of fun and definitely recommended. Watch for the WTF-inducing mid credits scene and a “fun but means something for Phase 4” post credits scene!I did a couple of one inch square sketches — one showing Spidey in his “Night Monkey” costume, and one of Mysterio. Both were done with 0.5 mm 2B pencil on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.I'm posting both with the same write up. #dailymoviesketch #spiderman #spidermanfarfromhome #tomholland #jakegyllenhaal #mysterio #petertingle #pencil #karthikabhiram#455 / 8-Jul-19

Kabir Singh (2019)Directed by Sandeep Reddy VangaThe 2017 movie "Arjun Reddy" starring Vijay Deverakonda in the title role was a huge hit and received praise, and now we have a Hindi remake, from the same writer-director.Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) is a brilliant surgeon, who is angry and possessive — he falls in love with Preeti (Kiara Advani) in their college days. We are shown this in flashbacks, and at the start of the movie we're made aware that the relationship has failed and Kabir is caught in a spiral of alcohol and drug abuse. The story is not so much the highlight here, rather, it's the character and how the story is told. In my sketch and review of the original, I said that drama is not the genre of movie that I like typically, but I liked "Arjun Reddy" and thought it was a well made and well acted movie. This is a scene for scene remake and I liked it as well. A film like this is made or broken by its lead actor's performance, and I thought Shahid did a great job here.I've been seeing some hate dished at the movie because of its portrayal of the lead character and of glorifying toxic masculinity. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion — mine is that a movie should be judged on its filmmaking merits (all of which are good here), and not on its subject matter. Filmmakers should have the freedom to write and portray characters in the way that they want. I liked the movie and I think it's well worth watching, even at almost three hours long it kept one interested. However if I had to compare this and the original one I'd have to say I liked the original better.I drew Shahid Kapoor as Kabir from the movie, the drawing was done with @ns1pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#DailyMovieSketch #karthikabhiram #kabirsingh#shahidkapoor #arjunreddy#453 / 1-Jul-19
