Justice League (2017)Directed by Zack Snyder A few days ago, we got the first official trailer for "Justice League" (well, first trailer if you consider the earlier one as a Comic Con Teaser). I liked the trailer and the choice of music ("Come Together", but which version?). As a precursor to the release of the trailer, the studio released very short clips for each of the 5 main characters. The good part of it is that, the footage there didn't show up in the main trailer. I liked the way Diana / Wonder Woman (@GalGadot) looked in her teaser clip. So I drew her. This was drawn with Prismacolor pencils on Canson paper. I scanned the drawing and am posting it. #243 / 29-Mar-17

Death Note (2006-07 Anime Series) Directed by Tetsuro ArakiRecently a trailer was released for a US live action movie adaptation of this anime / manga series, so I thought I'd do a drawing based on the anime. The series follows high school student Light Yagami who comes across a "Death Note", a notebook in which anyone whose name is written will die. Once a human is in possession of a Death Note, he can see a Death God / Shinigami who would remain in the Earth realm till the Death Note is used or the human dies. Light sees the Shinigami Ryuk. He decides to use the Death Note to kill criminals, thus attracting the attention of the police and the mysterious detective L, who swears to catch Kira (the name given to the person behind the killings). This is a sketch of Ryuk. It was done with ballpoint pen, a black marker and colour pencils. This is an edited scan of the drawing. #242 / 28-Mar-17

Attended Hyderabad Artists Meetup today. It was great meeting everyone who came. I got to talk about @dailymoviesketch and show my sketchbooks, and it was great to see everyone else's work as well. Thanks to @collabhouse for organizing it. Do let me know who I have missed tagging on the photo and I'll tag. #VSCOCam #Canon #5DMarkIII

Tom Hanks in “Forrest Gump”
Forrest Gump (1994)
Directed by Robert Zemeckis
I posted an @Instagram story asking for suggestions on future sketches. Thanks to everyone who took time to give their ideas! I got quite a few suggestions, but for today I decided to go with a sketch of Tom Hanks from “Forrest Gump”. This one is courtesy @mrinalini_82 and @sampath_babu. I realized that I’d actually not drawn Tom Hanks before, so took up this suggestion. I have not seen the movie in a very long time though, I should re watch it. This movie won the Academy Award for Best Picture, beating “Pulp Fiction”, which I actually like better than this. But this is still a wonderful movie, and Robert Zemeckis would go on to direct “Cast Away” some years later, which also featured an amazing performance by Tom Hanks. This is a scan of the pencil on paper sketch.

Postergully Sketchbooks
#ThrowbackThursday A shot featuring my sketchbooks ordered from @postergully, with my artwork on the cover. Many of my @dailymoviesketch drawings are done in these sketchbooks. I’m submitting this photo as an entry for their competition, #Click4Poster under the Art Making category as it shows my Rajnikanth sketch. I’ll be scanning the sketch and making it available on Postergully. #VSCOCam #Samsung #Galaxy #S7 #dual_composition #handsinframe I was a bit tied up with work the last few days that’s why there were no new sketches. I’ll resume today.

Emma Watson from “This is The End”
This is the End (2013)
Directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg
I received this as a suggestion, that I should draw Emma Watson sometime. So I did today – she makes a cameo appearance in this 2013 comedy about a bunch of celebrities getting together for a party at James Franco’s house, the festivities being interrupted by the Biblical apocalypse. A very funny movie that I watched a few years ago. I rewatched it today on Netflix while I was drawing this. This is a pencil drawing and I’m posting a scan.

Entry for #WHPyoungatheart
Entry for @instagram’s Weekend Hashtag Project, #WHPyoungatheart. The things in the photo – an old Batman paperback from the 1960s (the stories being in the vein of the 60s TV show which I used to watch in the early 90s) along with my @dailymoviesketch drawing of the Joker from “The Lego Batman Movie”, a drawing of Jackie Chan from “Operation Condor: Armour of God II” that I drew 21 years ago, along with my @dailymoviesketch drawing done a few days ago. A Superman toy that I recently got along with a McDonald’s Happy Meal is also in the frame (see @karthikabhiram for a photo I posted using the toy). #VSCOCam #Canon #5DMarkIII

Bahubali 2: Kattappa Drawing
Bahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
Directed by S S Rajamouli
In my drawing featuring the anticipated movies of 2017, I wanted to include “Bahubali 2: The Conclusion”, but at that time, there was no footage from the movie that had been released, so I didn’t include it.
Yesterday, the first trailer for this concluding part of S S Rajamouli’s epic production came out, and it looks great. I think, the visuals here are improved compared to the first movie. I am eagerly looking forward to April 28, when the movie would be released, and we will finally get the answer to the question that the first movie raised with its cliffhanger ending – “Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali”. I will re-watch Part 1 before it, of course.
There are two shots in the #Baahubali2 trailer that I really liked. There’s one shot that appears at the very end of the trailer, after the title has come on screen – this features Praha as Baahubali and Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva, in the frame. This is probably from the end of the movie. The other features Kattappa (Sathyaraj) holding the baby Baahubali’s foot on his forehead. This shot is actually there in the previous movie, but I suppose they’ll explain the context better in Part 2. Either way, I really liked this shot so I drew it. I want to draw the one of Prabhas and Rana as well – maybe I’ll do that this weekend.
This is a scan of the drawing.

Happy Pi Day 2017
Pi (1998)
Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Happy Pi Day! This movie is kind of an obvious pick for the day. It’s director Aronofsky’s debut, a mathematical thriller filmed in high contrast black and white. The director would go on to make movies like “Requiem for a Dream” and “Black Swan”, reteaming with cinematographer Matthew Libatique and composer Clint Mansell. But this is the one that started his career. Sean Gullette stars as Max, a paranoid mathematician who runs into a 216 digit number during his research, which may help him explain all of nature and might be the true name of God. There are other parties who want this number as well. It’s a terrific thriller, very well filmed with a superb music score. I drew a picture of Max from towards the end of the movie. This was drawn in pencil.
