I have made my New Year artwork available for purchase as a t-shirt design from @paintcollar, and it's available in both orientations (one with Deadpool on top and the other one with Pennywise on top). You can check it out at http://paintcollar.com/karthikabhiram. I ordered a shirt for myself, and it was delivered yesterday. The print quality is very good, better than I thought it would be! You can see the sketchbook with the original artwork also, in this photo. I'll post this picture on @karthikabhiram as well. Pi (1998)Directed by Darren AronofskyI had a few movies in mind for this day's sketch but since this is drawing number 314, I didn't want to miss the opportunity for a sort of pun, and picked "Pi". I have done a sketch based on this movie and written about it here before. I saw the movie in 2001 or 2002, and it really does catch one's attention for its story (mathematical genius discovering a 216 digit number that may hold the key to the secrets of the universe and other parties who will do anything to get it) and its unique style (shot by Matthew @libatique in B&W), and music. Highly recommended to watch. This is a sketch of Sean Gullette as Max, the lead character from the movie. Drawn with 0.5mm 2B pencil and scanned. There was lots of black in the image so it was fun to render the shadows. #314 / 9-Jan-18

Here's the drawing I was working on the past few days, with the Best Movies of 2017 and Anticipated Movies in 2018! 15 hours of work in total, it follows a similar idea as last year's drawing. This was done with a 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil on A5 Brustro sketchbook. Each of the individual drawings fits inside a circle the size of a 10 Rupee coin. I didn't get all the likenesses exactly right, but there's always a tradeoff of getting something completed vs making corrections.I am posting this scanned and edited version on both @karthikabhiram and @dailymoviesketch in two different orientations. I'll make this available as a T-shirt design like last year as well. Below is the full list of Best Movies of 2017 and Anticipated Movies in 2018 according to me (not in any particular order, and * denotes those that appear on the drawing). What are your picks? Black Mirror: Season 4 (2017)Created by Charlie BrookerSeason 4 of this show comprising 6 episodes hit Netflix on 29-Dec-17. That was the day I was travelling back home from Singapore trip, and the next day I completed the entire season. Won't give any spoilers, but this season was excellent, like the ones before it and I enjoyed it a lot. "Black Mirror" in my opinion is one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. The title refers to the darkened screen of our electronic devices – like a phone or tablet. Each episode of this anthology format science fiction show features technology in some way, and manages to be satirical, funny, fascinating, involving and absolutely terrifying at the same time. Brooker says the tech in the show is never the antagonist, the situations are created by the characters. After the show got purchased by Netflix for 2016's Season 3, the production values only got better, and each episode feels like a feature film in itself. This season was also brilliant, with superbly made episodes and some excellent ideas. There is one episode directed by Jodie Foster, one by David Slade ("Hard Candy"). It was pointed out that in this season, all episodes have a female protagonist. Nothing much more to say, this is superb entertainment that needs to be watched. I can't recommend it highly enough. This is a sketch of Cristin Milioti as one of the characters from the first episode, "U S S Callister", which is a "Star Trek" inspired episode. This was drawn with 2B 0.5mm mechanical pencil and @Prismacolor pencil for her costume, and scanned. #312 / 3-Jan-18

Die Hard in Singapore. I'm back home now, and as you'd have seen from the previous post, I started work on a drawing like I did last year, showing Best Movies of 2017 and anticipated Movies in 2018. I thought I'd post that as the first sketch of 2018, but it'll take some more time to finish. So, in the mean time, I'm posting these two images, tonight, I'll post the scan of a new drawing I completed today, followed by the scan of this Die Hard sketch. Will complete the New Year drawing as soon as I can, and post that once it's done. #vsco #samsung #galaxys7 #handsinframe #bolochai #DieHard #DailyMovieSketch

Die Hard (1988)Directed by John McTiernanAs seen on Facebook – "There are two types of people in the world. Those who think "Die Hard" is a Christmas movie, and those who are wrong." Good morning and Merry Christmas everyone, from Singapore! @varunabhiram and I are here till the 29th, and you can see the pictures and stories on @karthikabhiram.I am carrying my sketchbook with me but since so far the days have been quite packed, I couldn't draw anything. But for Christmas I thought I should draw and post this. I will post a scan once I'm back home. This picture was taken at Balestier Road, near Fragrance Hotel – Oasis, where we are staying. I'll post another picture like this on @karthikabhiram. #311 / 25-Dec-17#vsco #samsung #galaxys7 #handsinframe #MerryChristmas #DieHard #DailyMovieSketch
