Entry for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2021 — I drew @mipalkarofficial based on one of the recent pictures from her Instagram (photographed by @harshjanii), it had a really nice vintage look and therefore I thought to draw it. The drawing is one inch square in size and done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A6 sketchbook. You can swipe to see a scan and a few other pictures (all B&W keeping the same vintage vibe in mind). (I didn’t follow the prompt for this.) @apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone #karthikabhiram #miniatureart

The Office (2005-2013)Developed by Greg DanielsMore experiments with @huiontablet, I drew Dwight and Michael performing the song "Scranton The Electric City" from an episode of "The Office".I still have to figure out how to get sharper details though. I was not sure if this was good enough to post but am putting it up anyway.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#theoffice #straightouttascranton#604 / 21-Aug-21

Slither (2006)Directed by James Gunn[This post has a collage of four of my recent artworks, you can swipe to see the individual works.]After watching "The Suicide Squad" sometime back, I rewatched one of James Gunn's older movies that I hadn't seen in years, this horror comedy called "Slither" with Grant Grant (Michael Rooker) being infected by an alien parasite that causes him to mutate and attempt to infect others in a small town. It's a well made movie with great effects (mostly practical).I got a Huion Graphics Tablet for a low cost on Amazon Prime Day. The first sketch I made using that on Photoshop is this "Slither" drawing. I also tried the tablet with Autodesk Sketchbook and did a quick sketch based on one of @sarahjanedias's pictures. These are only initial experiments and I'm just finding my way around digital, I hope to get better at it.Also posting a couple of one inch square drawings, these are traditional drawings done with 0.5mm 4B mechanical pencil. The drawing of the coffee cup is one I did during my Instagram Live Session from @roasterycoffeehouseindia's handle on the 25th of last month. The drawing of the "Roll Safe" meme guy was done with my left hand, as one of the drawings for @aninchaugust where the prompt was to make a drawing with one's non dominant hand. They had chosen that as the prompt for 13th August which is International Left Hander's Day. I did the drawing the next day though. For the digital works I made an alternate version with a paper texture added. The papers are something I scanned myself (one from a @menorah.stationery sketchbook and one from @themedschoolstudent.store notebook).#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#aninchaugust #aninchaugust2021#meme #memesimade #rollsafe#pencil #digitalart #pencildrawing #miniatureart#603 / 15-Aug-21

Tom and Jerry (1940- )Created by William Hanna and Joseph BarberaThis is an entry for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2021 Day 10: A Childhood Memory.Who doesn’t have fond memories of “Tom and Jerry”? My early memories involve watching these films on videotape and then later when they were shown on TV. They are luxuriously animated and are a joy to watch. The films made from the 1940s to the 1960s are the best, the more modern iterations aren’t as memorable.I drew Tom from the short where he sings the song “Is you is, or is you ain’t my baby”. There are others I could have drawn but this one was very funny so that’s why I picked it. This is with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil and colour pencils on A5 notebook. You can swipe to see a scan.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch #tomandjerry #shotoniphone #602 / 11-Aug-21

I watched "The Suicide Squad" today in a theatre — the third this year, after "Tenet" and "Wonder Woman 1984" several months ago. I loved the movie!Unlike the studio interference that David Ayer faced for his 2016 "Suicide Squad", James Gunn had free reign to make the movie he wanted to, here. Like his "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies, this is also a film featuring a group of misfits on a mission! Task Force X, a team of criminals and villains imprisoned in the Belle Reve correctional facility are sent on a mission to the island of Corto Maltese. What follows is an epic, colourful, violent, fantastical action adventure that is very different from Ayer's movie (which I also really liked!) and also different from what you may expect from a movie in this genre. The movie stands on its own, story wise, hence it doesn't have to maintain continuity with the other DC Universe movies. It's not a reboot or a sequel, just its own thing. As can be expected, the movie has great music (the score by John Murphy as well as the songs). It has beautiful visuals — it was shot on IMAX certified RED cameras, and has a lovely look to it. The cast is terrific and the story was engaging, and does things to subvert expectations. The movie has a lot of humour and is surprisingly sweet at times (with Ratcatcher 2's character and the Sylvester Stallone-voiced King Shark). The R rating is utilised well and there are several moments of bloody violence and gore (I couldn't find a cut report but I think the version released in Indian theatres is uncut), and very creative and epic action. With the tone here, it really felt like a comic book to me, more so than other comic book based movies. Watch out for an interesting cameo. Overall I enjoyed it a lot and I think all involved had fun making this unique movie. The film is formatted in 1.9:1 aspect ratio but today, after the interval, the frame got punched in a bit to 2.39:1 (I suppose that's by mistake, the last slide in this post shows that). There was not much of a crowd which was a good thing (since now there's no alternate seating like was mandated a few months before).

@aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2021 Entries for Day 5, 6, 7 — For the prompt for Day 5 (Favourite Colour) I drew the Supercharge power up from the classic Doom games. For Day 6, a fond Travel Memory I drew Marina Bay Sands from Singapore, a very memorable trip in 2017 with @varunabhiram (the trip where I got to meet @yafiqyusman and @yaisyusman too). For Day 7, Something I can’t go a day without, it’s obviously my phone. I drew my Pixel 2 XL as that’s the one I’ve been using the longest. The first is a ballpoint pen drawing, other two are with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil. You can swipe to see scans, also, on the day I drew the supercharge I was wearing a blue shirt and took a photo with blue iPhone, which I posted on Story. That picture is here as well. @apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone #karthikabhiram #vsco #ballpointpen #miniatureart #pencildrawing
