[POSTER FOR A FICTIONAL MOVIE]Stab: In the Multiverse (2022)Directed by Robert RodriguezSome time ago, the fifth "Scream" movie was released, which I am yet to watch because it's not out in India yet. So I re-watched "Scream 4" and "Scream 3" recently, and enjoyed them a lot. The first "Scream" written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Wes Craven brought something new to the horror genre — it was a self-aware movie, making references to the slasher genre while being a very good slasher movie itself. You would definitely have a grin on your face throughout at all the movie references, it had an engaging story with good mystery, and a good helping of blood and violence. The sequels were well made too, Wes Craven directed the first four movies, and as he passed away in 2015, the new movie was directed by Matt Bertinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The Ghostface killer from the movies is voiced by Roger L Jackson, who is also the voice for Mojo Jojo from "The Powerpuff Girls". So I had the idea to combine the two into a fictional poster. Within the "Scream" movies, "Stab" is the fictional movie series which started off being based on the lives of the characters, but then progressively became a sort of cash-grab franchise. Our first glimpse of "Stab" is in the first scene of "Scream 2", and has a recreation of the opening scene of "Scream". That footage was directed by Robert Rodriguez, and has Heather Graham as the movie version of the character Casey (Drew Barrymore in the opening scene of "Scream").This poster combines all of the above influences. The artwork was done with multi colour ballpoint pen on A5 notebook, I scanned it and made the poster in Photoshop. It is a simple design as I am not proficient enough in Photosop to make more advanced stuff. The fonts used here are ITC Serif Gothic which oldschool horror movies might use, and the credits text is in Akzidenz Grotesk Condensed.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#shotoniphone #flatlay#ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing#ballpointpenart #artistsoninstagram#scream #stab #mojojojo #thepowerpuffgirls@instagram #hellofrom Hyderabad India#639 / 29-Jan-22

Scream 4 (2011)Directed by Wes CravenWes Craven's 1996 film "Scream" was a huge hit and revitalised the slasher genre, and also was the start of many movies that were self-aware and referenced their own genre tropes. It also popularised the "Ghostface" mask worn by the killer, usually dispatching his victims by stabbing them. There is a fifth film that has recently been released, and since Wes Craven passed away in 2015, he did not direct this. The new film just called "Scream" comes from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who made "Ready or Not" which I also saw and enjoyed, a couple of days back, on recommendation of @idreamwithwords.I re-watched the fourth film yesterday, which also came out more than 10 years after "Scream 3". I had watched it closer to when it came out, so it's been a while, and I really enjoyed it. Like in the other movies in the series, a set of murders start happening and the audience ends up suspecting all the characters before the killer is finally revealed. I hope the fifth movie becomes available on streaming soon, so that I can watch it.I drew Ghostface from the movie, the drawing was done with ballpoint pen on A6 sketchbook. You can swipe to see a scan. Also, I was happy to receive a copy of @grey_brains's 2022 calendar and a set of stickers made by her, so that's also pictured here!#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpen#scream #scream4 #ghostface#636 / 15-Jan-22

[Drawing of @alluarjunonline from @pushpamovie @aryasukku]Pushpa Part 1: The Rise (2021)Directed by Sukumar BThis Allu Arjun starrer was released at around the same time as "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and I didn't watch it in theatres. Recently, it was released on @primevideoin so I watched it a couple of days back and enjoyed it!Allu Arjun is Pushparaj, a coolie who gets involved in smuggling red sandalwood, this film you could say is like an 'origin story' which shows Pushpa's rise to power.I liked the acting, the action scenes and visuals! It's three hour length might be considered self indulgent and excessive on the part of the director, but I was on board for it all. The music and songs were good but I thought they weren't as memorable as some of the composer's other works.Fahadh Faasil is in this movie and though his role will be more significant in Part 2, he makes a superb impression. And bring on Part 2, The Rule!I am glad I watched this on streaming and not in theatres, because I would have found te dialogue very tough to follow without subtitles, because of the dialect.Like the director's earlier "Nannaku Prematho" this movie also has an inventive interval mark.I drew Allu Arjun as Pushpa, the drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen on A6 sketchbook. Swipe to see a scan. Also, I'm posting one screenshot I took, this one is interesting because if it was done in camera and not through visual effects, and if I'm right, this effect where both actors are in focus, would have been achieved by placing a split focus diopter in front of the lens.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpendrawing #alluarjun #pushpa#pushpaonprime #ballpointpen #shotoniphone #635 / 11-Jan-22

Don't Look Up (2021)Directed by Adam McKayComedy isn't my preferred genre, as I usually prefer thriller / horror / science fiction / action movies, but I enjoyed this one as it was quite sarcastic and dark. The movie is about two astronomers played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, who discover that a comet is heading towards Earth with the potential to destroy all life on the planet, and the reactions to it.It gave me vibes of "South Park", "This is the End", "Independence Day", "Idiocracy", "Rick and Morty" (not that these are directly related) with a sometimes surreal feel. The movie may not be for everyone but I liked it! Had I watched it in 2021 it would have been in my “Very Good” tier! I liked the visual look of the movie as well (this is shot on film). It had an interesting design for the titles. One thing I noticed is that most, if not all the characters were shown using Red Hydrogen phones (which I think was never commercially launched). I read that they put it in there because these phones look different from the usual ones that we use.I drew Leonardo DiCaprio from the movie, the drawing was done with ballpoint pen on A6 sketchbook. You can swipe to see a scan. @mangopenciler2.0 also drew Leo and I was thinking of drawing Jennifer Lawrence, but then I came across this still which had this expression that I couldn't resist drawing.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpendrawing #dontlookup#633 / 5-Jan-22

A cutting mat is probably the last thing that one would keep as a background for a food photo, but, in this case since the food was very reddish in colour, I thought the green contrasted well! This is Aloo 65 and Veg Schezwan Noodles ordered from @red.wok through @swiggyindia yesterday. Third slide is a bowl of Veg Hakka Noodles and Veg Schezwan Fried Rice ordered from the same restaurant a couple of weeks before. #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #noodles #foodphotography

Yesterday’s visit to @lockthebox exhibition by @book.chor. You can see more glimpses in the Reel I posted, putting up edited photos here in this Post. I am not one to read books these days, there was a time when I used to read a lot of them (only fiction books though, I have never consumed non fiction stuff of my own accord), but my consumption of content has changed a lot in the last 15-20 years and I prefer visual content (movies, photography, art and comics) to books. But that’s just me. Still, it was nice to attend this event and I wouldn’t have even known about it were it not for @saltandsambar. Today (2 Jan) is the last day for this event. #shotoniphone #karthikabhiram #bookstagram

𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 — Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! All the very best wishes for 2022!For the first artwork and first post of 2022, I thought I'd base it on the two movies that I'm looking forward to most, in this year. Both have men in capes as the leading character, and I drew them from their respective latest trailers. Pictured here is the evil (?) version of Doctor Strange from the sequel (this trailer is the same as the post credits scene in "Spider-Man: No Way Home"), and Batman from the latest "Bat and the Cat" trailer for "The Batman".The drawings were done with 0.5mm 4B mechanical pencil on A6 sketchbook. The first image is a scan with text in Akzidenz Grotesk font (I've been using the same from 2016).You can swipe to see a picture of the actual drawing. Also included in this post, is my list of the Best Movies of 2021 (entirely subjective, a tiered list as in previous years, and based on what I saw last year) and Anticipated Movies in 2022. In previous years we had sites where we could generate "Top Nine" Instagram posts, this year, I think Instagram itself has restricted such activity hence those sites no longer work. But from my own Insights page, I've included the Top posts of 2021, by Likes, and by Reach. Finally, in the latest "Bat and the Cat" trailer, there is a code which I actually tried solving myself, the common way to do it is to assume the repeated symbols are letters like E, S, A which appear more frequently in words. I spent some time on it but wasn't able to get it, looked it up online. Apparently it deciphers to "You are el rata alada", since the last two words weren't in English, that threw me off. You can go to the URL rataalada.com to see further puzzles.Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)Directed by Sam RaimiThe Batman (2022)Directed by Matt Reeves#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#2022 #happynewyear2022 #happynewyear #pencildrawing #doctorstrange #thebatman #topnine #bestnine#632 / 1-Jan-22

Hawkeye (2021)Created by Jonathan IglaI recently started following @florencepugh on Instagram, after seeing some compilation video clips on YouTube of her interviews and Instagram stories. From these, she seems like a nice and funny person. I've drawn her twice before, one from the "Black Widow" trailer, and a few months back, I did a one-inch sketch of her from "Midsommar". She was the best thing about the "Black Widow" movie in my opinion and so I was very happy to see her appearance in "Hawkeye" as well (this would have been a spoiler were it not for the fact that the Marvel account has posted this and she is in the trailers for the episodes).I drew her from the scene where she catches a bottle of Sriracha sauce. Also in this post — the drawing of @mangopenciler2.0 that I did for his birthday on 28th, my part of the collaboration with @tiny.sharma10. I added some finishing touches to the drawing. You can swipe to see scans of both drawings. These both were done with ballpoint pens on A5 / A6 sketchbooks. I got a pack of three 10 colour ballpoint pens with a cute unicorn thing on top (which is what I used for the colours here). Also — you can see two calendars that I ordered recently, one from @pon_balaji with his artwork, and the other one a very creative calendar (which required some DIY assembly) from @artbyamala.And finally in the frame is a postcard sent by @anwesh_goda, with a picture shot by him, which came as an end of the year surprise.I suppose this would be the last post here for 2021! So, wishing everyone all the best for 2022!@apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#flatlay #ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpenart#hawkeye #florencepugh#hellohyderabad #hellofrom Hyderabad India #thisweekoninstagram#happynewyear#631 / 30-Dec-21
