Trying two things with this Post — first is, making use of the fact that if you tap and hold on the Share option, it will show a small pop up. I saw this used on @swiggyindia’s post yesterday and I thought I’ll try it myself. Try it and tag your friends to see which meme they are.The second thing — have you noticed of late that several accounts are posting memes and other text posts as one second videos instead? This is apparently because these posts will rack up a lot of watch time compared to their length and Instagram would prefer these posts to show to others. No harm in trying it I suppose. These are one inch drawings done with 0.5 mm 4B pencil on @menorah.stationery A7 sketchbook.#karthikabhiram #meme #memes #trending

@gowriabhiram is a long time listener of the BBC Podcast Digital Planet, and has been active in the respective Facebook Community as well. Last month, my parents and I visited a place in Maharashtra that is the corresponding location on Earth, to the landing spot of the Perseverance Rover on Mars. This was part of writer/filmmaker Chris Riley's project to map sites of landers on Mars to their twin spots on Earth, and it was through the Podcast that this connect and visit happened. He has written articles on Medium about this project and our visit, and my mom was interviewed on the latest episode of the podcast as well.In this post — the first slide is a picture of my parents with farmers at the location, followed by the image featured in the Medium article, along with the EXIF and location info (the latitude and longitude are as close as we could get). Also included is a panorama shot at the spot, which if you are seeing it on Instagram, you should have three seamlessly tiling images and one with bars on top and bottom. There are also some screenshots from Stories that I posted. The relevant links can be found in the Linktree link in my bio (I had not used it much all this while, took the opportunity to update it with more links now). If you are listening for the Podcast episode, the relevant parts are at around 12 and 39 minutes.I shot all pictures with iPhone, the ones in this post are edited with VSCO and are in 3:2 aspect ratio (this is more because of the panorama — 9:2 was the closest ratio which preserved almost the entire image, hence it made sense to cut it up into three 3:2 segments).#karthikabhiram @apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)Directed by Sam RaimiA few days back, the second trailer for the sequel to "Doctor Strange" was released (along with the official poster), and this really seems to be interesting! With "The Evil Dead" director Sam Raimi at the helm, they seem to be enhancing the fantasy and horror elements. As one post pointed out, unlike the ones for other MCU movies, this trailer is completely serious, there are no jokes in it at all. This trailer also has people speculating that Patrick Stewart is in the movie, as Professor X from the X-Men, based on one shot where there is a person glimpsed who looks like him, out of focus. On rewatching the trailer it really seems like his voice (the subtitles in the trailer identify him as "Mysterious Voice" only). There are possibly other cameos including Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, of course, I am sure the studio will keep this under wraps till the actual movie is released.Along with the trailer and poster, there was a 30 second TV spot also released, which has some new shots. You get a clearer look at what appears to be a zombie version of Doctor Strange (or at least a version with his flesh decaying or fading away).@newrockstars pointed out that the trailers released so far also have different title designs, probably again reinforcing the multiverse concept. The writer Michael Waldron was the showrunner for the "Loki" series, and the music here is by Danny Elfman. This one and "The Batman" are the two most anticipated movies of 2022 for me.I drew the zombie version of Doctor Strange, with ballpoint pen on A5 notebook. You can swipe to see a scan. I also had posted a Reel a couple of days back, with my drawing of @yashrajmukhate and @shehnaazgill from the "Boring Day" song, I have included the scan in this post too.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch #ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpointpendrawing#doctorstrange #doctorstrangeinthemultiverseofmadness #yashrajmukhate #suchaboringday #shotoniphone #642 / 17-Feb-22

It has been almost a year since I got my current laptop, and all these months I had not installed Doom (the original games from the 1990s) on it. I don’t consider myself a gamer by any means but there was a phase in the late 1990s/early 2000s where I used to play Doom (and a few of the other first person shooters from that time) and @varunabhiram and I have even made some of our own levels. Last night I copied the game data files and installed GZDoom and was able to play these games again. These are screenshots from two levels that I made, and they are “speed maps” which means I made these in 100 minutes. The thing is, the second one, I don’t even remember making it, so, it was fun for me to play. These are from 2007/8 apparently and are very short levels. But I remember I made them look good, for having been made in such a short time. So I thought I’d post these screenshots. #karthikabhiram #doom #doomfans #doom2

The Suicide Squad (2021)Directed by James GunnJames Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” has recently come on @primevideoin and I rewatched it a few days back, hence, I drew the rat Sebastian from the movie. @danielamelchior plays the character Ratcatcher 2, with the power to control rats and Sebastian is the polite rat who is usually perched on her shoulder. Sebastian was played by two real rats, called Crisp Ratt and Jaws, in the movie and they’re even credited in the end credits. The drawing was done with ballpoint pen on A7 @menorah.stationery sketchbook and scanned.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch #ballpointpen #thesuicidesquad #sebastian #rat #ratcatcher2 #ballpointpenart #ballpointpendrawing #artistsoninstagram #641 / 9-Feb-22

Food, Story Polls and Wordle — I thought I’ll make a post with some of the stuff I’ve recently shared on Stories. First is a picture of Chatpata Chana Sub and Chatpata Chana Wrap from @subway_india, then a couple of polls, one on which pair of glasses I should wear (I have both, so will keep alternating). Also, I have been playing this game Wordle of late and it’s very good. Thanks to @thevelvetshadow and @naveenart for pointing me to archive sites where one can play the previous puzzles as well. There are a few slides here on how I have been solving them. Shoutout to fellow Wordle fans: @rad_all_day @shrusti_mohanty @namratabs @ishwarya_varshitha @niveddo @pon_balaji #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #wordle #foodphotography

Punisher: War Zone (2008)Directed by Lexi AlexanderI was watching a video about the different on-screen versions of Marvel's "Punisher" character, and that made reference to this 2008 movie. I was aware of this movie's release all those years ago, and especially remember reading about its director, Lexi Alexander, who is a martial artist and from a stunts background herself. However I never watched it back then, and the movie didn't do well on release either. I realised it's on Netflix so I watched it yesterday. The movie has Ray Stevenson in the role of Frank Castle a.k.a. the vigilante Punisher, who has no issues with brutally dispatching bad guys. Here, we see him go up against some gangsters one of which ends up becoming the villain Jigsaw. My reaction to the movie was very mixed. The thing which I felt didn't work, was the tone. The characters, especially the villains, were exaggerated and played like caricatures, like something you'd see in a kids cartoon. Yet, the movie has glorious R-rated bloodshed and violence, with people getting decapitated, heads blown off, and so on. The movie is very stylised with bold exaggerated colours, yellows, blues, greens in the frame. I realise this was a choice but to me it seemed a bit garish. Many of the characters were underdeveloped. I liked some of the visuals and the fact that they didn't tone down the violence, but the other aspects of the movie didn't work for me. Still I am happy that I watched it. The best Punisher in my opinion would be the one played by Jon Bernthal in the Netflix Marvel Television incarnation.I drew The Punisher, the drawing was done with 0.5mm 4B mechanical pencil on A7 @menorah.stationery sketchbook.
