The Haunted World of El Superbeasto (2009)Directed by Rob ZombieRob Zombie has made some interesting movies. His best work in my opinion is the revenge story "The Devil's Rejects", the sequel to "House of 1000 Corpses". In 2009, this very curious effort — an adult animated comedy was released. This follows the adventures of El Superbeasto (voiced by Tom Papa), a former Mexican wrestler turned pornographic filmmaker, and his sister, superspy Suzi X (Sheri Moon Zombie), as they try to prevent Dr Satan (Paul Giamatti) from marrying a woman with the devil's mark, which will give him the powers of Hell.I liked this movie a lot, and feel it's underrated, and didn't get the attention it deserved. But then again, it probably appeals to a more niche kind of crowd. A lot of it is inspired by old school horror movies, Zombie's own characters and non-mainstream 70's/80's animation. The animation style is colourful, cartoonish and suitably slapstick. It's based on a comic book series that Zombie himself created, and I appreciate it because it's obviously his vision on screen, there's nothing like it elsewhere. It has cartoonish violence, nudity, and songs with vulgar lyrics, and it goes by quite quickly (just 77 min). One might think the storyline is a bit thin and the whole thing could have more substance, but then again considering the type of movie it is, I think one should not have those expectations and just enjoy it. The filmmakers obviously had a good time making it (though I believe it took a considerably long time in production). One of my favourite characters in the movie is the stripper Velvet Von Black (voiced by Rosario Dawson, who I thought was excellent). She is the woman with the devil's mark (666 on her butt). I drew Velvet, the drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen on A6 sketchbook and scanned.#dailymoviesketch #ballpointpen#515 / 13-Feb-20

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)Directed by Joe and Anthony RussoThis is an entry for the @inktober #inktober52 #inktober2020 prompt 'hammer'. Yes, Thor was the first that came to mind but rather than draw Mjolnir I drew Groot completing the Stormbreaker axe/hammer from Infinity War in that epic scene. The drawing was done with Uni Pin 0.1 fineliner and Gelly Roll pen on A6 sketchbook and scanned. This is about an inch square in size and done in stippling style.#dailymoviesketch #karthikabhiram#penandink #stippling #groot #avengers #avengersinfinitywar #miniatureart@neme.art #findartfeb2020 #findartfeb#514 / 9-Feb-20

Batman (1989)Directed by Tim Burton “𝙃𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙣𝙨!” — Entry for the @inktober #inktober2020 #inktober52 prompt word ‘balloon’. This is from the 1989 “Batman” movie directed by Tim Burton, the scene where the Joker organises a parade at Gotham City’s 200th anniversary, with huge balloons and promising to give away money to people. He starts then gassing the crowd with his Smylex gas! Batman then gets rid of the balloons with the Batwing. The drawing was done with @staedtlermars ballpoint pens and Gelly Roll pen. I used all 10 colours in the set.#ballpointpen #dailymoviesketch#karthikabhiram #batman #joker #513 / 3-Feb-20

𝘽𝘼𝘿 𝘽𝙊𝙔𝙎 𝙁𝙊𝙍 𝙇𝙄𝙁𝙀 — I'm a fan of Michael Bay's "Bad Boys" and "Bad Boys II", both old school action movies, the kind you don't get to see much these days. They star Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett of Miami PD, and both movies had the cops going against drug dealers. Part 3 comes from directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and sees the Bad Boys coming back into action when an attempt on Mike's life is made by an unknown assassin, and when others from a past case are gunned down. Part 3 comes 17 years after Part 2 (which itself was released 8 years after the first). I initially was skeptical about how the movie would be. But reviews said the movie was surprisingly good, and I share that opinion – it's far better than one would expect. It continues that blend of action and comedy, the action scenes are good. Will Smith is as charismatic as ever, the two leads work well together in both the comedic moments as well as the dramatic ones.I was so happy to hear Mark Mancina's original theme music recalled here. Apparently Michael Bay wanted a more generic beats oriented score for Part 2, so the theme didn't come back, so it's nice to hear it in Part 3.I felt that the original two movies were more fun than this one. The tone was a bit inconsistent here, I felt it leaned more towards drama than the comedy and was a bit more serious. I thought it overstayed its welcome a bit also, with its last act set in Mexico City going on for too long. But nevertheless I liked Part 3 a lot and look forward to the fourth, which apparently has been fast tracked, so we won't have to wait till 2044 for it. I read that the title for Part 3 is a kind of missed opportunity – they could've called this just "Bad Boys 3" and the fourth "Bad Boys 4 Life". This is the first entry on the Anticipated Movies of 2020 artwork I'm working on, I drew Will Smith as Mike. The second square is John David Washington from "Tenet". They're one inch square in size, drawn with Prismacolor pencils on Canson paper.Note: There's a reference to dyeing one's beard here, something I never thought I'd see in a movie!
