[#DailyMovieSketch × #Inktober]Resident Evil (2002)Directed by Paul W S AndersonBased on the #Inktober2018 prompt word "slice", I thought of this scene from Paul Anderson's (was this the first movie where W S got added to his credit?) videogame adaptation, "Resident Evil". This is actually the first thing that came to mind, Michael Myers from "Halloween" (earlier post) was retrofit, since I watched the movie last night.I enjoyed this movie a great deal when I watched it in 2002, and at that time I was big time into "Doom", used to make "Doom" levels and all. At that time I remember thinking, if they make a movie based on the game, this is what it should be like, only with more gore. We did get a "Doom" movie a few years later, which obviously had a decent budget but was very disappointing. "Resident Evil" with its set of soldiers entering an underground lab under lockdown, with a virus turning people into zombies was entertaining, and had a heroine in Alice (Milla Jovovich). I actually enjoyed the sequels too. This sketch is from the "laser tunnel" sequence in the movie, where a character gets sliced up into pieces thanks to lasers! It's a very well made scene. It was done with Bic ballpoint pen and a red ballpoint pen, and scanned.#387 / 31-Oct-18

[#DailyMovieSketch × #Inktober]Halloween (2018)Directed by David Gordon GreenThis is a sketch based on the #Inktober2018 prompt word "slice", what better sketch to do than one based on a slasher film, that too when the original one is considered a trendsetter.I watched this 2018 "Halloween" film last night. The original film by John Carpenter, "Halloween" (1978) was made on a budget of $350,000 and grossed millions of dollars. The franchise has an interesting history, with 7 sequels made before the series was rebooted by Rob Zombie, who made "Halloween" (2007) and a sequel, "Halloween II" (2009). This current film is actually a sequel to the 1978 original, ignoring all the other movies. Hence, if you count Rick Rosenthal's "Halloween II" (1981) and Rob Zombie's sequel, this is actually the third "Halloween II". But it's simply called "Halloween". Confused? The movie stars Jamie Lee Curtis returning in her role as Laurie Strode as she prepares to face off against Michael Myers, the masked psycho who terrorised her 40 years ago.I liked the visual style of the movie, it was fast paced and easy to watch, and the music was good, mixing in some of the original themes. However I felt overall the movie was decent, but kind of underwhelming, certainly they could have amped up the scares and the tension, and certain characters and things that happen in the movie exist solely to propel the plot forward. Overall worth watching but only if you like this type of movie. This is a sketch of Michael Myers as he gets back his iconic mask and becomes "The Shape" again. It was done with a Bic ballpoint pen and scanned.#halloween #michaelmyers #johncarpenter #theshape #ballpointpen#386 / 31-Oct-18

[#DailyMovieSketch × #Inktober]Total Recall (1990)Directed by Paul VerhoevenI completed this #Inktober2018 sketch I started a few days ago! I won't write about Total Recall again here because I already gushed over it a few posts back. It's a terrific action movie that's very cleverly written and is very entertaining.I drew Sharon Stone as Lori from the movie. This is the "clever girl" scene where she says "Sorry Quaid, your whole life is just a dream". I'm relating it to the prompt word "double", since some of the characters in the movie are not who they seem to be.The drawing was done with ballpoint pen and scanned. I worked a bit on this at the Open Studio event on Sunday (check stories and photo on @karthikabhiram for that). #totalrecall #sharonstone #ballpointpen @inktober#385 / 30-Oct-18

[Open Studio Event — 4/4] Yesterday I participated in this Art Event called "Open Studio", hosted at Buzz Quarter, a co-living space in Manikonda. Thanks to @tiny.sharma10 and @vishakha___patel for inviting me, and it was very nice to be there and meet other artists too. I had my @dailymoviesketch artworks on display and I did one sketch there in charcoal. Here are a set of photos I shot, you can get a feel of what the event was like. I'm putting them up as three separate posts on @karthikabhiram and one post on @dailymoviesketch. Do tag people in the comments to let them know! #canon #sl2 #200d #DailyMovieSketch #OpenStudio @living_quarter_hyd

Daredevil S3 (2018)Created by Drew GoddardI finished watching Daredevil Season 3 a few days back and it was brilliant. I think it's the best set of episodes in the entire show, so well written and acted, and as I already mentioned earlier there is a single take fight sequence in Episode 4 running for 11 minutes (that apparently involved 50 stunt men to pull off), which has to be seen to be believed.Today I attended an event called Open Studio at the Co-Living Space, Buzz Quarter, at Manikonda. It was an Artist meetup and I met a lot of people there and displayed my work.Aditya (@the_onyxmethod) gave me a charcoal pencil to draw with and I drew this at the event. Check my stories on @karthikabhiram to see more photos from the event, there is one short video that @marzia_li captured with me actually drawing this. It's the first time I'm using charcoal and it was an interesting experience. As charcoal fades off easily, I wanted to spray fixative on the drawing and I did as soon as I got home, however that seems to have smudged it as a result of which the drawing doesn't look as good as it did. Check stories again, to see a photo of it at the event. This is a scanned and edited image, I tried to get it to look as good as I could. This is Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk from Season 3. What a character and what a powerhouse performance. If you thought he was a powerful character in Season 1 just wait till you see Season 3. #384 / 28-Oct-18

As you would have seen on my stories, I am attending an event called Open Studio today. The location is Buzz Quarter Manikonda, and it's an event open for all artists to attend (it's a free event). I will be there with some of my sketchbooks and will be talking about my @dailymoviesketch drawings. I also got these two sets of prints made, I'll be getting them for the event as well. Looking forward to meeting other artists at the event — @sripriyatham @the_onyxmethod @tejo_oo @i.am.not.an.artist_ @zehra_visualart and others. @tiny.sharma10 and @vishakha___patel can be contacted for more information on the event and they will also be presenting. #vsco #canon #sl2 #200d #DAILYMOVIESKETCH

Very happy to share this article on #Inktober published in today's edition of The Pioneer Hyderabad. Privileged to be one of the artists featured here, thanks a lot to @prannay_kumar for considering me to be part of this and for the nice article. @youniwerse and @about.blank_ who are featured here, have actually done more #Inktober2018 sketches than I have, this year! I have two drawings in progress, I didn't complete them yet since I was watching the excellent Season 3 of Marvel's "Daredevil" on Netflix. One Daredevil sketch is featured here. I'm posting this on both my accounts, @karthikabhiram and @dailymoviesketch. #Inktober2018 #DailyMovieSketch @inktober

[#DailyMovieSketch × #Inktober]Daredevil (2015-present)Created by Drew GoddardThe new Season of this Marvel show was released on Netflix a few days ago, I'm currently on Episode 7 (out of 13). I was a big fan of the first two Seasons, and this third one is equally as good. Vincent D'Onofrio is fantastic as Wilson Fisk, and the character development and story so far is very engaging. The treatment of the character Dex is awesome too. The fight scenes are great, and like Season 2 had a long take fight featuring the Punisher, Episode 4 has a 10 minute long take fight sequence that has to be seen to be believed. The fights are brutal and realistic, and the fact that you care for the characters makes it that much more effective. Once I complete the show I'll share additional inputs.I drew Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in his black costume this season. I had initially started drawing from another reference image, but did this as a smaller sketch. So, posting it.This was drawn with a black Bic ballpoint pen, and a red ballpoint pen and scanned. This is not really following any of the #Inktober2018 prompt words, however I suppose you could relate it to "weak", one of the earlier words.#daredevil #marvel #bullseye #mattmurdock #ballpointpen @inktober#383 / 22-Oct-18
