[My drawing of @reginaacassandraa from @prasanthvarma2.0's film #Awe. I had posted the in-progress sketch a few days back, she was kind enough to post it on her @instagram story. Here is the finished drawing. It took more time to complete, as I was traveling the last few days.] Awe! (2018)This movie had been getting good word of mouth since its release the Friday before last, and I watched it last week. It's best to go into this movie without knowing too many details. Suffice to say, it has an ensemble cast and follows multiple characters through different storylines. Kajal Aggarwal is a woman who is apparently disturbed about something, you have Priyadarshi playing a chef, Nithya Menen meeting someone at a restaurant, a Magician, Regina Cassandra playing a junkie, Srinivas Avasarla playing a dabbler in science. These storylines get resolved in interesting and unexpected ways, and manage to involve multiple genres – drama, comedy, science fiction. Overall I enjoyed the movie and thought it was well made. However, as the film built towards the ending, I kind of realized where it was going (the ending is similar to another movie, which I won't name here as it'll be a spoiler, will put it in the first comment on this post). Also, some of the characters and plot lines I felt, didn't get a satisfactory resolution. Nevertheless, it's well worth your time, certainly not a typical Telugu movie. I watched it at PVR Forum Mall, where the movie was shown with English subtitles. Stay till the end credits, for some behind the scenes footage. The title of the movie though written as "Awe", is closer to "Ah!", going by the Telugu alphabet. Which is the correct pronunciation? I drew Regina Cassandra as the junkie Meera from the movie. The last movie I watched of hers was "Maanagaram", and this is a completely different role for her. I did this with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook, and this is a scan. #325 / 27-Feb-18#reginacassandra #nani #telugu #chaibisket @chaibisket #DailyMovieSketch

A work in progress drawing of @reginaacassandraa from @prasanthvarma2.0's film #Awe. I watched the movie a couple of days back, and I liked it. Will write more details about the movie when I post the finished sketch. If you haven't seen the movie yet, here is a tip: stay back till the credits end, there is some behind the scenes footage that is shown, without audio. #vsco #samsung #galaxys7 #handsinframe #DailyMovieSketch #reginacassandra

[Pencil drawing of @actormaddy from @breatheamazon. I had posted an in-progress image earlier, thanks to Mr Madhavan for mentioning that on Twitter! This is the scanned version of the finished artwork. You can see @karthikabhiram for a photo of the drawing in my sketchbook, and the pencil that I drew it with.] Breathe (2018)Directed by Mayank SharmaI guess we in India are quite lucky, since a subscription to Amazon Prime Video is very reasonably priced here as compared to other parts of the world. Quite a few major regional movies have become available on this service very soon after their theatrical runs. And there is a growing selection of content created specifically for the service, of which "Breathe" is one. This is an 8 episode series of which 7 have been released so far. It stars Madhavan as family man Danny Mascarenhas, whose 6 year old son Josh is terminally ill, and will die unless he receives an organ transplant in a few months. Danny is a good man but will do anything it takes to save his son. When organ donors start turning up dead, alcoholic cop Kabir (Amit Sadh) suspects Danny. The show is well made with good production value and cinematography (IMDb says they used the RED Helium 8K camera on this production). However, I feel the story and direction could have been a little bit more nuanced and subtle. There were some things that really required suspension of disbelief in the first few episodes, and Amit Sadh's character was quite unlikeable in the first few episodes as well. Madhavan though, with his performance elevated it to another level, but I did get a feeling sometimes that he was an actor of a higher caliber than the material. If it sounds like I didn't enjoy the series, that's not so, it's just that I had these minor issues with the first few episodes. But the show kept building the tension well and the last couple of episodes were really good. I would definitely recommend watching the show. I'll update this post once I have seen the entire thing.I drew Madhavan as Danny from the show, it was done with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro A5 sketchbook.#324 / 19-Feb-18#breathe #amazon #DailyMovieSketch #pencil #madhavan #actormaddy

Sharing my in progress sketch of R Madhavan (@actormaddy) from "Breathe". I watched 5 episodes of this show so far and it's good. Yet to see the 6th one which was released last Friday. I've been quite busy with work and travel the last few weeks (actually, months), which is why the frequency of sketches I'm doing has reduced somewhat. Anyway, they will still keep coming. I'll post a scanned image once I complete this sketch, along with my review of the show. #vsco #samsung #galaxys7 #handsinframe #breathe #amazonprime #madhavan #hellohyderabad #pencil #DailyMovieSketch

Deadpool 2 a.k.a. Untitled Deadpool Sequel (2018)Directed by David LeitchYesterday a new trailer for "Deadpool 2" was released (called "Deadpool, Meet Cable"), and it gives us our first look at Josh Brolin's character Cable. This movie continues the creative marketing of its predecessor, none of the teasers released have been traditional ones – it's as if they are all aware that they are trailers, and feature footage specifically shot for the promo, and then some actual footage from the movie. Here, they even poked fun at "Justice League"'s reshoots with CGI removal of Henry Cavill's mustache. We see a shot of Cable with a green coloured hand, and Deadpool calls this out and asks why the visual effects aren't completed for this shot, and says, "It's a metal arm! It's not like we're trying to remove a mustache! Aw, fuck it, I'll do it myself". What follows is a clip of him playing with toys telling us about Deadpool and Cable, before showing us actual footage from the movie. There is an International Trailer which has a couple of altered shots and dialogue changed to tone down the swearing.Between the previous teaser and this, the movie has an earlier release date of May 18. They still haven't revealed the actual title of the movie though.I drew "Sheriff Deadpool" from the trailer. The toy looks like it has been adapted from @robliefeld's artwork. This was drawn with a @sakuraofamerica Pigma Micron 0.005 pen on Brustro sketchbook. I was nominated by @yvonnecheeart for #thepennychallenge, so I drew this one in real small size. This is in the size of a Singapore 5 cent coin (as it's smaller than a 1 Rupee coin) and is done in a stippling style.Swipe to see the scanned image, a regular photo and a macro photo. Square photos posted here, @karthikabhiram will have 4:5 versions. Blade II (2002)Directed by Guillermo del ToroA couple of weekends back, I watched both "Blade: Trinity" and "Blade II" on Amazon Prime. It was an interesting experience to watch a pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe-Marvel movie now! The second entry in the "Blade" series has Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire hunter, being contacted by a group of vampires who want him to work with them, to eradicate a new kind of vampire – the Reaper, who is equally as dangerous to vampires as to humans. This movie has Guillermo del Toro's stamp all over it, with an energy, a fast pace, good action scenes and great creature effects, and is probably the best of the "Blade" movies. The cast includes Donnie Yen and Ron Perlman, and you can't really go wrong with that.I drew Luke Goss as Nomak, the leader of the Reapers. This was drawn with 0.5mm 2B pencil, @prismacolor pencils, and a white gel pen on Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#322 / 4-Feb-18#blade #bladeii #blade2 #wesleysnipes #guillermodeltoro #marvel#reaper #nomak #dailymoviesketch

Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018)Directed by Peyton ReedA few days back the trailer for "Ant-Man and The Wasp" was released. This will be the 20th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, being released in July, after Marvel's big event film "Avengers: Infinity War". As a follow-up to the very entertaining 2015 "Ant-Man", this looks like it will be just as fun, with interesting ideas of objects shrinking and becoming giant-size. It'll be interesting to see though, how an MCU movie set before, but released after "Infinity War" will be like (what would they set up in the post credits scene?). This is a drawing of Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne / The Wasp. It was drawn in 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook, and scanned.#antman #antmanandthewasp #thewasp #marvel #marvelstudios #dailymoviesketch #evangelinelilly#321 / 4-Feb-18
