Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018)Directed by Peyton ReedA new trailer for this movie was released a couple of days back, so I thought I'll draw something based on it for today's sketch. Also, since these movies play on scale, I thought I'll draw a miniature. This drawing is the size of a ₹2 coin. It's Evangeline Lilly as Hope in her Wasp costume. Drawn with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook and scanned. #341 / 3-May-18

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)Directed by Taika WaititiI re-watched "Thor: Ragnarok" a few days before and really enjoyed the movie the second time. The first time I saw it, it's light tone I felt was kind of working against the seriousness of the Ragnarok event and it's overall place in the MCU. However, the second time, I liked it a lot more, and even felt the ending thematically worked better. There's a lot to like about the movie, it's very funny and charming, and I loved Mark Mothersbaugh's 1980s inspired music (apparently, it was a sort of counter to the video essay that mentioned that Marvel movies don't have memorable music). Two tracks I really like are "Planet Sakaar" and "Grandmaster Jam Session", both of which play during the end credits (main-on-end, and end respectively). The tone of the movie makes it feel like a smaller, more indie film, and not the multimillion dollar blockbuster that it actually is. It's one of the more quirky entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, like James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies. It's good I saw it just before "Avengers: Infinity War", since that movie picks up directly after "Thor: Ragnarok" and I was able to connect events better.Tessa Thompson made an impression as Scrapper 142 / Valkyrie in the movie. She was also in "Annihilation" which I recently watched, and so, I wanted to draw her. This drawing was done with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook and scanned. #340 / 1-May-18#thor #ragnarok #thorragnarok #infinitywar #avengers #avengersinfinitywar #marvel #marvelstudios #DailyMovieSketch #valkyrie #tessathompson #taikawaititi #pencildrawing #pencilsketch #pencil

[#NOSPOILERS REVIEW | MORE #NOSPOILERS THOUGHTS IN FIRST COMMENT]Avengers: Infinity War (2018)Directed by Anthony and Joe RussoFans have waited for "Avengers: Infinity War" for 10 years. 18 movies built up to this – does it live up to the hype? Absolutely! The 'mad Titan' Thanos is on a quest to collect the six Infinity Stones. Once he gets them, he aims to use them to eradicate half the life in the universe, which he believes will restore balance. The Avengers, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy must stop him. "Infinity War" is nothing short of amazing. It's epic, dark, the stakes are high, there are moments of despair, it gets emotional, but it is also very entertaining. There are superb character moments, and crowd pleasing scenes that had audiences cheering at many points in the film. It's a credit to the Russos that they brought so many characters, established by different filmmakers in earlier movies (even the more eccentric ones by James Gunn and Taika Waititi), all into this one huge canvas, and it all works wonderfully. It moves at a breakneck pace, I actually felt 149 min was too short.Josh Brolin as Thanos was amazing, so operatic and such presence. CGI was a bit uneven in parts but he was so well written and performed, so it works. The visuals are great, all the performances are terrific. The one criticism I had was that things moved forward quickly because the plot demanded it. However, they did the best they could to fit in all the story elements, so this can be excused. What an ending – it left me shell shocked and speechless. I needed the time during the credits to actually recover from the shock of what I'd just seen! We have to see what they do in the next Avengers movie (apparently the title is a spoiler, that's why they haven't revealed it yet). The Russos and Marvel Boss Kevin Feige weren't kidding about major changes in the MCU!This is definitely one of the best MCU movies, and one of the best comic book movies ever. Highly recommended and a 10/10 from me. I will watch it again.#339 / 29-Apr-18#Avengers #InfinityWar #AvengersInfinityWar #DailyMovieSketch #Thanos#InfinityGauntlet #ThanosDemandsYourSilence

Venom (2018)Directed by Ruben FleischerThe teaser for "Venom" was released a few weeks earlier, and one criticism of that was, they didn't show the creature in it. We did get to see Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock begin to transform into the creature though.A couple of days back, we got a trailer for the movie, and at the end of it, we did get to see Venom. Although everyone's attention (including mine) will be on "Avengers: Infinity War" now (I've booked the 11 PM show), I did a drawing of the symbiote from the bit in the trailer where he says "We are Venom". As @rajivforyou2611 pointed out, this is another movie where Tom Hardy has his face covered. Another surprising controversy this trailer has caused is on the pronunciation of the word "symbiote", people in the trailer and the movie say it as sym-bye-ote, as opposed to sym-bee-ote. Apparently both pronunciations are accepted, though the second is the common one. I used to think it's pronounced the way it is in the trailer, but then again, for me at least, that's not a word I'd use in my day-to-day conversations!Looking forward to this movie, it's supposed to be R rated, so let's hope they amp up the darkness, violence, gore and all!The drawing was done with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook and scanned. #338 / 27-Apr-18

Deadpool 2 (2018)Directed by David LeitchThe final trailer for Deadpool 2 was released yesterday and I think it's the best one yet. It clarifies a bit more about the plot of the movie and has a lot of jokes. Some memorable ones include Deadpool and TJ Miller holding interviews to select members of the X-Force, the title saying "From the studio that killed Wolverine", Deadpool saying "Pump the hate brakes, Thanos" (directly referring to Josh Brolin playing Cable here and Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War"), and Wade telling Cable that his character is so dark and is he from the DC Universe. There seem to be more elaborate (and expensive) action scenes too. Can't wait for May 18th!I drew Josh Brolin as Cable from the trailer. The drawing was done with 0.5mm 2B pencil and @Prismacolor pencils on Brustro sketchbook and scanned. #337 / 20-Apr-18#deadpool #deadpool2 #cable #joshbrolin #Thanos #DailyMovieSketch #L #L2 #xforce #avengers #avengersinfinitywar #marvel #marvelstudios #dcuniverse #pencil #pencilart #pencildrawing #pencilsketch #dp2

Tomb Raider (2018)I watched this movie a few weeks ago at Vijayawada. The movie is an adaptation of the video game franchise, which I am aware about but never played (back when I used to play games, I was always more of an FPS person, played Doom and Quake). I did see the earlier adaptation starring Angelina Jolie, but not its sequel. This 2018 adaptation had an entirely forgettable story about Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) investigating into her father's disappearance, and finding out about the mystical hidden island that he was headed to. She decides to go there to find out what happened to her father. The movie had some good action scenes and some nice visuals that reminded one of a video game. Overall though I felt it was a very average movie. One thing that stood out in the entire thing was Alicia Vikander, she really gave her 100% to this. She carried the role very well. For me, the movie was worth watching only to see her in this role. She brought a touch of class to "Jason Bourne" and did really well in her breakout role in "Ex Machina", this is another performance that's very well executed. I drew Alicia Vikander as Lara from the movie. The drawing was done with 0.5mm 2B pencil on Brustro sketchbook and scanned. #336 / 20-Apr-18#tombraider #aliciavikander #angelinajolie #pencildrawing #pencilsketch #pencil #pencilart

#ThrowbackThursday #DailyMovieSketch Sketch number 175 is a special one, because so far, it's the only collaborative sketch on this page. It was done as part of #Inktober2016, @sripriyatham drew Leonardo DiCaprio and I drew Martin Scorsese. This drawing was done with Bic ballpoint pen on a Canson sketchbook. I had only posted a photo of the drawing earlier, and scanned it just recently, for my Two Years of Daily Movie Sketch collage. So, posting the scan. My latest drawing, one of Alicia Vikander is almost done and I'll post it either tonight or tomorrow morning.
