Flatlay picture after yesterday's Charcoal Drawing Workshop. Yes the lighting in this cafe created these harsh shadows but I think this is a nice photo anyway. My Deadpool sketch in Brustro book can be seen, and @tiny.sharma10's sketch in the exact same type of book, and @thedormantartist's work. @vineelreddy took us to this place and all our hands are seen. #vsco #google #pixel2xl #teampixel #DAILYMOVIESKETCH #flatlay #chai #chroniclesofchai #chaiisafeeling #chaivibesonly #iranichai #bolochai #handsinframe

Once Upon a Deadpool (2018)Directed by David LeitchA few days ago, the trailer for "Once Upon a Deadpool" was released. This is a PG-13 version of "Deadpool 2" which is being released in theatres in the US at around Christmas time (I don't know where all they will release it, and whether it'll be released in India or not). This version contains some new footage especially shot for it, as can be seen in the trailer featuring Fred Savage (Kevin from "The Wonder Years"). It'll be nice if I could get to see this version, I loved "Deadpool 2" and it'll definitely be on my list of Best Movies of 2018.This sketch was done with my 0.5mm 2B pencil on a new A6 Brustro sketchbook (first page!) and scanned. The colour was added in Photoshop. You can see a photo with the actual sketch on @karthikabhiram.#deadpool #deadpool2 #onceuponadeadpool#DAILYMOVIESKETCH#392 / 22-Nov-18

Early this morning there was the news of Marvel Comics' Chairman Stan Lee's passing at the age of 95. Ever since I was a kid, I've heard his name and though I read more DC comics as a child than Marvel ones, his name unmistakably left an impression (it sounds like a superhero name right?). It was always a joy to spot him in his brief appearances in Marvel movies (MCU or otherwise), and regardless of the quality of the film he always brought that touch of dignity to it. I've shared some Instagram posts on my stories on @karthikabhiram, from artists and celebrities who worked with Stan Lee or have been inspired by him. It's very inspiring to see, and teaches us that one should live their life in such a way as to be remembered like this. This is my @dailymoviesketch drawing of Stan Lee (from March 2017), I posted this along with another photo on my @karthikabhiram account. What I wrote above, is also from that post..#vsco #google #pixel2xl #teampixel #DAILYMOVIESKETCH .#stanlee #ripstanlee #handsinframe.#pmgridchallenge for the autumn colours

The Haunting of Hill House (2018)Created by Mike FlanaganI'm on Episode 6 of this show now, and enjoying it greatly. It's very well done. The only thing is, it's really scary so I have to stop watching it in spurts and switch to a, say, @petermckinnon or @mkbhd video on YouTube, so that I don't get too involved in it!The scares in the show are totally earned and don't come across as cheap at all — and since you care about the characters, it makes it much more effective. The acting and writing is all top notch, and so is the direction and technical proficiency on display. A lot of the scenes are filmed with smooth Steadicam / gimbal type camera moves, and they build suspense and tension very well.Particularly in this episode, there is a long stretch done in what appears to be a single take. It's not, obviously since the sets and the actors change, but it's pulled off so well that it appears seamless, with the aforementioned smooth camera moves guiding the viewer through it all and making one wonder how they executed it.Story wise, there is a lot of mystery that's set up and the non linear way in which information is revealed keeps you constantly engaged. I'm looking forward to finishing it. I suppose at this point (just past halfway), things will start getting even more interesting as they'll begin to wrap up the story threads. Once I complete it, will post my final thoughts. But this is a very highly recommended show from what I have seen so far.I drew Carla Gugino as Olivia from the show. The drawing was done with 0.5 mm 2B mechanical pencil on paper and scanned.#thehauntingofhillhouse #netflix #mikeflanagan #carlagugino #DailyMovieSketch #pencilart #pencil#391 / 13-Nov-18

U Turn (2018)Directed by Pawan KumarI was really busy with Campus Recruitment when this movie was released in theatres, so missed it. Fortunately, it recently came out on Amazon Prime, so I could watch it.This is a Telugu remake of director Pawan Kumar's own Kannada movie "U Turn" (2016). That film is available on Netflix, and I'd seen it last year, and thought it was a very well made and interesting movie. So I was interested to watch the remake. Apparently this was shot in Tamil as well (I don't know if it's just a dubbed version or if there were scenes re shot for that version). The movie is about an intern journalist, Rachana (here played by Samantha Akkineni, and by Shraddha Srinath in the original), who is doing a story about a flyover where motorists move the divider blocks illegally and take a U Turn. When one of the people she intends to interview turns up dead, a police investigation ensues, and there appears to be a mysterious link between people taking this U Turn and a set of murders. It's an interesting blend of different genres and it's a well made movie. Recommended watching. It's interesting to watch this remake after watching the original since you know everything that happens. For me it was like watching the movie a second time. This is almost a scene for scene remake (Wikipedia says the last act is different but from what I remember of the original, it's exactly the same here too). The police station (and flyover) mentioned in the movie is quite close to where I stay, should probably go there once — maybe next time I visit Coffee Cup Sainikpuri!I drew Samantha as Rachana from the movie. I was thinking whether to use pencils for the drawing or not, ultimately decided to do it in the style of my #Inktober2018 drawings, with black Bic ballpoint pen and a red ballpoint pen. This is from a scene in the movie where Rachana wears a red top, so black and red suited this drawing. This is a scanned version. I'm not 100% happy with the way the drawing turned out, but anyway putting it up.#uturn #DailyMovieSketch #samanthaakkineni #samantharuthprabhu#390 / 11-Nov-18

A photo from the Open Studio event from a couple of weeks back, which I did not post till now. @tiny.sharma10 gave me a print of one of my favourite artworks of hers — this sketch of L from “Death Note”. Also in the frame is my first charcoal drawing (thanks to @the_onyxmethod for the materials), of Wilson Fisk from Daredevil. I had posted the scan of the drawing but it got messed up a bit after I sprayed fixative on it, I think it looks better in this photo. #vsco #google #pixel2xl #teampixel #DailyMovieSketch…#L #deathnote #marvel #daredevilseason3 #daredevil #handsinframe #charcoal #charcoalportrait #flatlay #fromwhereistand

The Haunting of Hill House (2018)Created by Mike FlanaganI started watching this show on Netflix after hearing a lot about it. People said it's scary and atmospheric so I thought I'd watch. Perhaps not the right thing to do now since I'm alone at home for now, but I couldn't resist. I just finished the first episode, and thought it was very well made. Of course, coming from Mike Flanagan (who made the scary "Oculus" a few years back, which I really enjoyed), it's expected. The production values are high, and the storyline seems interesting, about a family haunted by events that happened many years ago, at an old house.I won't say who this is a sketch of, just so that spoilers are avoided. This drawing was done with a charcoal pencil that was given to me by @the_onyxmethod at the Open Studio art meet-up some days back. It's actually quite fast to sketch with this, I should use this more!#thehauntingofhillhouse #netflix #charcoal #pencil #pencilart #charcoalportrait#DailyMovieSketch#389 / 11-Nov-18

[#DailyMovieSketch × #Inktober]Marvel's Daredevil Season 3 (2018)Created by Drew GoddardI'm tagging this for #Inktober2018 though I actually completed it just now, because I started this sketch in October itself. It was along with the other Daredevil sketch I posted, on the theme "weak", for this is where Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) is at his weakest.I already wrote about how much I enjoyed Season 3 of this show, it's really very good. This is a sketch of Matt, it was done with Bic black ballpoint pen and a red ballpoint pen on paper and scanned.#netflix #marvel #daredevil #daredevilseason3#DailyMovieSketch #ballpointpen#388 / 6-Nov-18
