Evil Dead II (1987)Directed by Sam RaimiAfter watching "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", I went back and rewatched one of my favourite Sam Raimi movies — "Evil Dead II". The first "The Evil Dead" was made for a very low budget with a cast and crew that were in their early 20s, it was a tough shoot but the movie went on to become a cult classic. That movie to me is what a nightmare would be like, it doesn't take itself very seriously but has a lot of gore and violence and has a manic energy thanks to the filmmaking style. The much bigger budgeted "Evil Dead II" fully embraces the comedy elements, and is a combination of slapstick comedy mixed with blood and gore. The third one "Army of Darkness" is a fantasy-comedy blend with less horror.I love all the three movies, probably this one is my favourite and there's a direct reference to this in the Doctor Strange sequel (which did have the Sam Raimi-isms but watered down). This is a drawing of Bruce Campbell as the possessed Ash. It was done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A5 sketchbook. Patterns — this is the same picture I posted on Story today! I was told that single images are seeing a bit more traction on Instagram now compared to Carousel posts so thought I'll just post one and check for myself. This is actually a picture of a dumbbell in low light taken with the 50 megapixel camera on the S22 and cropped in heavily. #karthikabhiram #teamgalaxy #withgalaxy #vsco

Very thankful for this early birthday gift from family (my birthday is on May 15) — Samsung Galaxy S22! This is a replacement for my Android phone (Pixel 2 XL from 2018), which I’m using as my primary phone. #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #withgalaxy #teamgalaxy #samsungs22

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)Directed by Sam Raimi As I mentioned in the previous post, I watched the Doctor Strange sequel on Friday and liked it (detailed writeup with #nospoilers is there). So, did this sketch too with one of the Strange variants in the movie. You can swipe to see a scan. Also, I've put up scanned versions of the previous two sketches I did, of Clint Eastwood from "A Fistful of Dollars" and Mahesh Babu from "Businessman" because the latter movie uses the former's theme and that's used in many Reels. I had put up a Reel with it, but thought I'll post the images also. Also, included in this post are a couple of videos, one showing the Clint and Mahesh drawing, and something which I had been discussing with a few artist friends recently, which is the fixative spray that I use. It's Camel Arfina Artist's Fixative Spray which can be ordered from Amazon. I have been using the same thing for a few years now for all my pencil drawings and it's very useful because I don't have to worry about the artwork getting damaged if I had over my sketchbook to someone and they touch the drawing!#662 / 7-May-22A Fistful of Dollars (1964)Directed by Sergio Leone#660 / 5-May-22Businessman (2012)Directed by Puri Jagannadh#661 / 6-May-22@100daysofsketchingofficial #100daysofsketching #100days2022@keshrt #pencilsketch #pencildrawing #pencil #reels #trendingaudio #clinteastwood#doctorstrange #doctorstrangeinthemultiverseofmadness#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch

"Sir, I need to take leave on Friday for a Doctor Appointment.""Oh is it? Which Doctor?"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness[#NOSPOILERS]Apart from "The Batman", this Doctor Strange sequel was one of the most anticipated 2022 movies for me. I watched it yesterday and while I liked it, I didn't think it was the "event movie" that one was anticipating from the trailers and build up, certainly not to the level of "Spider-Man: No Way Home". I still enjoyed the movie and the horror elements that Sam Raimi brought to it (as a huge fan of his "Evil Dead" movies I appreciated the nods to those). However, I also got the feeling that they held back and didn't allow him to be let loose as much as they could have. Maybe post production tampering or reshoots, or they eliminated a bunch of footage to shorten the run time. Anyway I liked the creative visuals and ideas, the acting, and it was entertaining. Not among the best MCU entries but still good in my opinion. If you have watched "WandaVision" and to a lesser extent, "What If…?" you'll appreciate this better. Also, the fewer trailers you have watched for this, the better off you are. I loved the titles design at the end, with the retro inkblot type imagery and Friz Quadrata font (which I have used occasionally myself).Ran into @vineelreddy and @im_gunda who'd also watched the movie in the same theatre and same screen. So, got the opportunity to take some pics which I've put in this set. The last one is a poster for a Telugu movie called "Karan Arjun" which I had not heard of till now, but what stood out to me was that they've imitated the "Predator" alien's look with this costume.#karthikabhiram #doctorstrange #doctorstrangeinthemultiverseofmadness #shotoniphone

Posting three of the recent sketches I have done for the @100daysofsketchingofficial challenge. As I mentioned, I thought I would try to draw something every day even if it's not a proper bigger drawing.Day 1 was the sketch of "Bloody Mary" which I posted earlier. Day 2, I did a quick ballpoint pen sketch of my @xiaomiindia Mi Band 6. Day 3, I drew ana_d_armas, and yesterday being Star Wars Day, I drew Boba Fett from "Return of the Jedi". Bloody Mary (2022)Directed by Chandoo MondetiThis movie was released on @ahavideoin a couple of weeks back. @avinashseye recommended it and I also came to know about it from @kireetid's posts, and I was told it's a good thriller which I'd enjoy. So I took a quarterly subscription to the platform (worked out to ₹199 which is like buying a movie ticket) and watched it a couple of days back.I didn't watch the trailer nor did I read anything about it, so all I knew about the movie was from the plot summary on Aha, which involves three friends and evidence of a murder. I thought this worked well actually since there was more of a suspense for me while watching it. The movie introduced certain character traits for its three main leads and was engaging with its story and twists. At just 91 minutes the movie is an effortless watch and went by very fast. I also thought it was elevated by the cinematography (by @karthik.gattamneni) which makes it look grander in scope than its relatively smaller budget. Definitely a nice watch overall! I drew @nivethapethuraj @kireetid and @rajkumarkasireddy2 from the movie, the drawing is done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A5 notebook. I thought I should do more of these sketches with multiple characters, as opposed to just one single face, so, like KGF2, did this one. You can swipe to see a scanned version.Today is also the first day of the #100daysofsketching challenge by @100daysofsketchingofficial @keshrt, where the idea is to draw for at least 6 minutes a day, for 100 days. While I may not be able to stick with it for that long, I thought, this time, if I'm not doing larger drawings like this, I'll at least try to spend 6 minutes and do quick face sketches. While there are prompts, I thought I'll not follow those and instead just try drawing daily. Maybe after I finish the daily Wordle, I'll allocate a few minutes for a quick drawing.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#bloodymary #nivethapethuraj#telugucinema #sketch #drawing#pencilart #pencildrawing#BloodyMaryOnAHA #100daysofsketching@keshrt @100daysofsketchingofficial@chandoo.mondeti #658 / 1-May-22
