I went to @amb_cinemas yesterday after a long time, to watch "Minions: The Rise of Gru", which was fun. The place certainly provides a premium experience, the ambience is really good and one can shoot pictures with symmetry and patterns. I've booked in the same place for "Thor: Love and Thunder" as well on 7th. Tagging @samsungwithgalaxy on this set for low light or night images. Also, I've included B&W versions of the images in this post too — I feel both are appealing. Once you strip away the colour the patterns are highlighted better. But the colour versions have a nice blue and orange combination. Which do you prefer? #karthikabhiram #withgalaxy #S22 #hellofrom Hyderabad India @instagram #teamgalaxy #hellohyderabad #lowlightphotography #blackandwhitephotography

Ms Marvel (2022)Created by Bisha K AliWith the numerous movies and TV shows that are comprising Phase Four of the MCU (post "Avengers: Endgame"), I think I have reached the point where I am afraid there's no strong push for me to actually watch the content, the shows at least, and I'm thinking there might be a day when the same happens for the movies too. I did watch "Moon Knight" and liked it, however wasn't enthusiastic about this show, and had even less interest in the upcoming "She Hulk".But, I ended up watching the four episodes that are out so far (out of 6, it's a short show) and I must admit, I am liking it. It's colourful and entertaining, and Iman Vellani is very likeable in the title role as 16 year old heroine Kamala Khan / Ms Marvel. The latest episode had Farhan Akhtar in a guest starring role. However, I get the feeling that unless there is something major (MCU wise) that happens in the last 2 episodes, this will be quickly forgotten. Here is a quick sketch I did of Iman Vellani, it was done with ballpoint pen on A5 notebook.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpenart#msmarvel #imanvellani #kamalakhan#672 / 30-Jun-22

3X B&W Metro Set 2 — A few days back I had posted a set of 6 photos shot with the 3X (telephoto) lens of the @samsungwithgalaxy #S22 that I'd edited in B&W, here are 6 more pictures. As I mentioned in that post, using a longer lens gives a different perspective and look to the pictures. Do check the previous set if you haven't. #withgalaxy #karthikabhiram #hellohyderabad #hellofrom Hyderabad India #metro #blackandwhite #blackandwhitephotography

3X B&W Metro Set 1 — The 3X (telephoto) lens on the @samsungwithgalaxy #s22 is very interesting to use! Due to the compression or flattening produced by a longer lens, the pictures (especially of people) look different from the ones produced by the regular lens. I edited a few of them in B&W yesterday and thought they turned out very interesting! Posting them in two sets of 6 pictures each. Hope you enjoy these! Inspired by @nmphotostory_bnw @dinalf @shrusti_mohanty @jasonmpeterson and recently @shutterupgaurav also posted a Charminar photo series in 2 sets, which you should check out! #withgalaxy #karthikabhiram #hellohyderabad #teamgalaxy #hellofrom Hyderabad India #metro

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)Directed by Joseph KosinskiThough I had the audio cassette of the soundtrack of Top Gun (1986) in the 1990s, and listened to the songs (two favourites were 'Top Gun Anthem' and 'Danger Zone', but somehow I was not fond of 'Take My Breath Away'), I never actually watched the movie till a year or so ago. It was a product of its time I suppose, I liked the action sequences and music but the drama and romance stuff was not for me at all. Hence I wasn't particularly anticipating the sequel from an overall movie/story perspective. However having heard of the technical aspects and how they actually fitted cameras in planes and took them thousands of feet into the air, I wanted to watch it.Got to see it on Wednesday night and I really liked the movie. The aerial scenes are all beautifully shot and gorgeous to look at, to use a bad pun, they did take my breath away. The story was pretty straightforward but they kept things engaging and the characters were good. I loved the callbacks to the original in terms of the visuals and music. The visuals were beautiful, so many shots had a very shallow depth of field. Such a well made movie, definitely one for a theatrical experience (unfortunately Hyderabad does not have an IMAX screen so I got to see it only in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio).I drew Tom Cruise as Maverick, the drawing was done with 0.5 mm 4B mechanical pencil on A5 notebook. You can swipe to see a scan and also a Story I posted about the font from the titles.Few other B&W pictures of the theatre are also included (INOX GVK One).#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#topgun #maverick #topgunmaverick #tomcruise#pencil #pencildrawing #pencilsketch #pencilart#artistsoninstagram#667 / 3-Jun-22

Stranger Things 4 (2022)Created by The Duffer BrothersAs you may have seen from my previous two posts, I had participated in the Art Slam event organised by @the_nations_rock_beat @thenrbevents this weekend. On Sunday, @sripriyatham and I did a bit of Live Sketching at the event, and I drew the big bad Vecna from "Stranger Things 4". I've put that in this post along with a scan. You can also swipe to see a couple of ultrawide selfie shots I took on Day 1 of the event.I loved Season 4! So far, it's 7 episodes that have been released as "Volume 1" and episodes 8 and 9 (Volume 2) are coming in July. I was cautiously optimistic for this season as I was hoping that it would not be a simple retread of what we've seen before, and it was not! I appreciated how they expanded the scope of the show and kept it engaging, the visuals, production value, music are all exceptional as usual, and I loved the more horror inclined vibe of this season.I've also included some other pictures in this post. Thanks to @hemuishere for the framed print of his Thanos artwork, which he gave me at the event. The behind the scenes picture of me taking the ultra wide selfie is by @nag_marisetty, and thanks to @andyndart for the picture while I was drawing Vecna. Also, in this post, I've included pictures of certain gifts I received for my birthday earlier this month, thanks to @abujoist @rad_art_1 and @rajith23. I hadn't included them in earlier posts so I thought I'd add them here.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#pencildrawing #strangerthings #strangerthings4 #vecna#pencil #pencilart#666 / 29-May-22
