[#scifinktober22 by @alberto_sting Day 1]2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)Directed by Stanley KubrickIt's October and that means it's time for Inktober, the annual art challenge to make ink drawings all through October. I did the entire challenge once with 31 drawings, back in 2016, but in subsequent years I've not drawn things every day. This time, rather than going by the official Inktober Prompt List, I came across artist Alberto Russo's list of prompts based on science fiction movies. It's a set of 16 prompts, so, a drawing every two days which I think is more manageable. So, I thought I'll do those for this year. Most of the movies in the list I have seen and have made drawings of, for earlier Inktober editions. There are a couple I am guilty of not having watched, so I'll do that as a preparation for the challenge. The first movie is "2001" which one would often find in the lists of top science fiction movies of all time, a well deserved appreciation. The movie is experimental and not for everyone, I really like it though if I had not read about it (and read the book it was based on several years ago), I would not have appreciated it as much. The first part of the movie has a mysterious black monolith appearing in prehistoric times, which actually spurs development of humanity into using tools back when we were still apes. This is a frame showing the ape using a bone as a weapon / tool. This is a ballpoint pen drawing on A5 Brustro sketchbook, you can swipe to see a scan.@inktober #inktober #inktober2022#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpensketch#2001aspaceodyssey#697 / 1-Oct-22

Watched Olivia Wilde's "Don't Worry Darling" last night, and liked it. Florence Pugh and Harry Styles are a couple living in an idyllic town, but reality starts unraveling slowly and all is not as it seems. I like this type of thriller, and it's beautifully shot (Matthew Libatique), and Florence Pugh carried the movie wonderfully. I felt it could have been tightened a bit and the reveal wasn't as impactful as expected for me. Still, enjoyed watching it. Watched "Chup" the previous night, and liked that one as well. Here are some mirror selfies from last night and a list of recent releases which I am considering watching. @samsungwithgalaxy #withgalaxy #S22 #karthikabhiram #vsco #hellofrom Hyderabad India #hellohyderabad

@speakyourphoto at @lifafahyd Art Carnival • 2/2 • I was a speaker at this event today and it was a wonderful one! With more of a focus on video content these days on Instagram, it was so refreshing to see such nice photos from the other speakers. Posting two sets of selfies and other pictures from the event. I managed to get one picture each of all the speakers along with one of their images. Thanks to @peteri_prashanth for the photo of me. #karthikabhiram

Plane Window Photos without being in a Window Seat • On the onward flight to Vizag I was lucky to get a Window Seat at the very front of the plane (1A) so I could take a bunch of pictures. On the way back, I got Aisle Seat 22C. However I used the 10X zoom mode on @samsungwithgalaxy #withgalaxy #S22 and was really surprised at the results! This is actually a software zoom using the 3X lens and with some HDR and AI upscaling being applied, and for posting on Instagram it's perfectly fine! These are not edited in any external app, I brought in the Photos into Instagram only, and did slight edits within this app itself and am posting. #karthikabhiram

Once Upon a Deadpool (2018)Directed by David Leitch"Once Upon a Deadpool" is an alternate version of "Deadpool 2" which has the more explicit material cut out to get a PG-13 rating in the US. There is a framing story added with Deadpool narrating the movie to a captive Fred Savage. I watched this alternate cut and it was amusing but only as a novelty. The theatrically released cut is the superior version, and one would enjoy this version only if they have already seen the original. This version misses all the blood and violence and many of the jokes, which makes the film less entertaining and feel disjointed. Some of the newly added jokes are fun though.I drew Deadpool from a promotional trailer for this cut of the movie which was released in December that year. The drawing was done with Bic multicolour ballpoint pen on A5 Brustro sketchbook. You can swipe to see a scan and a couple of video clips during the drawing.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch #ballpointpen #ballpointpenart#ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpensketch #sketch #movieart #artistsoninstagram#deadpool #deadpool2#696 / 20-Sep-22
