Total Recall (1990)Directed by Paul Verhoeven"Get your ass to Mars."Yesterday (30 July) was Arnold @schwarzenegger's 75th Birthday, something which I came to know after seeing a post by @jeffvictorart, showing a set of Schwarzenegger's famous movies done in his style. So, I thought I would do a sketch myself.Initially I was thinking of drawing something from "Commando", which, around 1990/91/92 was the very first Schwarzenegger movie I watched and loved. But on looking at some reference images I thought I'd draw this instead, from "Total Recall" which is also one of my favourite Schwarzenegger movies. I've done sketches on this movie also before. This is a miniature drawing in one inch square size and an early entry for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2022. It was done with 0.5mm 4B pencil (Gelly Roll was used for the highlights in the eyes) and you can swipe to see a scan and a few other edits of the photo.I love "Total Recall" for the extreme gore and violence courtesy director Paul Verhoeven, the clever blend of action and science fiction, the amazing music score by Jerry Goldsmith, and the fact that they really made this an otherworldy adventure! The talent involved is awesome, and the movie won an Oscar for its Visual Effects. They don't make movies like they used to! These Schwarzenegger movies from the 1980s and 1990s were what I grew up with (though probably one was a bit young to be watching all that bloodshed, but never mind), and I'll always have a fondness for them.I also think one can take lessons from him on building one's confidence and having a positive attitude towards life. And the man has a shoulder exercise named after him!Fun fact: The character Sub-Zero from the "Mortal Kombat" games was named after the villain Subzero from Schwarzenegger's 1987 movie "The Running Man".From @ramanjaneyaprasanna's Story I realised that 30 July was Christopher Nolan's birthday too, but I was not up to doing one more sketch.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch #arnoldschwarzenegger #schwarzenegger#pencil #pencilart #pencildrawing #miniatureart#withgalaxy#680 / 30-Jul-22

Been seeing a lot of buzz lately on #MakeInstagramInstagramAgain, even @zuvamart and @eattripclick posted about it, so I thought I would put up my opinion too. Mine is more a "middle of the road" view on the matter but of course I wish that I would get more engagement, reach and likes on my still image posts (photos and artwork). The photos in this post are meant to be an R, G, B colour combination 😀 #karthikabhiram #withgalaxy #S22

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐬 • 𝐀 𝐁&𝐖 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 — As I mentioned on Story, here is an interesting set of pictures that I am happy to share, I hope you like them! This concept is not entirely new, as I've seen this kind of commute pictures from other photographers before. But this is my spin on it, pictures from the Metro trains that I take on a daily basis to get to work.It has literally taken days to make this set, because I can get only one or two such images per day (not all trains have clear windows and there's only a few seconds of time where one has to grab these shots). B&W, symmetry and square aspect ratio I thought made the images more interesting and consistent. All shot on @samsungwithgalaxy #S22 #withgalaxy. There has been quite a lot of buzz of late, on #MakeInstagramInstagramAgain — where people have expressed frustration on IG's focus on video and Reels at the expense of still images. I will make a post with more of my thoughts on this. But that's why I had posted a Story this morning, to drum up more attention to this Post!#karthikabhiram #hellohyderabad #hyderabadmetrorail#streetphotography #blackandwhite #blackandwhiteisworththefight#bwphotography #madeforsquare #strangersinmypost #symmetry #accidentallywesanderson #teamgalaxy #shotonphone #jj_mobilephotography

Master (2021)Directed by Lokesh KanagarajOut of Lokesh Kanagaraj's four films, this was the only one I hadn't seen, and when I saw that it was available on @primevideoin, I watched it. I liked it, though not as much as "Kaithi" and "Vikram". Nevertheless, I felt it was a good balance with the more Lokesh type elements (crime and dark violence) and the more commerical aspects for its star Vijay. Vijay Sethupathi had an amazing screen presence as the villain, so I drew him as Bhavani from the movie. This is an early entry for @aninchaugust, which is an art challenge to do artworks in the space of a square inch. This was drawn with 0.5mm 4B mechanical pencil. The Gray Man (2022)Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo"Hello my sexy Tamil friend."Apparently one of Netflix's most expensive productions, this was a highly anticipated movie from "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" directors The Russo Brothers, and its script is also by those movies' writers. It has a nice cast too and I'm always one who likes action thrillers like this, so, despite the mixed reviews it's been getting, I was excited to watch it.I watched the movie last night and it was pretty decent, I did like it. I can see the reason for the mixed reviews — I found it strangely not as involving as it could have been, despite the stars and the filmmaking talent. Perhaps that's due to the script and dialogue (some of which sounded just off). Also, we have seen all of this before — shady government types send an assassin after one of their own, all of who are after a MacGuffin, so maybe that familiarity also worked against it.Usually in a movie of this type I'd appreciate the visuals but in this case I felt the murky cinematography actually did the movie a bit of a disservice (Stephen Windon is the DP for some of the "Fast and Furious" movies which are brightly lit, so the dark visuals here were by intent). Also there was this fake bokeh and shake which distracted from the action choreography. Dhanush thankfully appeared in more than one scene (he was only there in one shot in the trailer so I was worried that he would be in just one scene) but didn't have a major role.Having said all this I still liked the movie for its action which was entertaining, it had a relatively straightforward story which made it very easy to watch, and the way Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas owned their roles made it worthwhile for me. Now where is our crossover of this with "Extraction"?I drew Ryan as Sierra Six and Chris as the villainous Lloyd from the movie, it was done with 0.5 mm 4B pencil. You can swipe to see a scan (in which I tweaked the composition) and a few other related images.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#thegrayman #netflix #chrisevans #ryangosling #dhanush#pencil #pencildrawing #pencilart#678 / 23-Jul-22

This is an attempt at making a Reel that you can watch as a loop. The audio isn’t exactly looping but I think it’s enough to get the desired effect. #karthikabhiram #shotoniphone #reels #trendingreels
