The X-Files a.k.a. The X-Files: Fight the Future (1998)Directed by Rob BowmanThrough the 1990s, this show "The X-Files" became a cult hit, with its lead characters FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating paranormal cases and becoming involved with a government conspiracy and aliens. There were a lot of great episodes on the show and though I have not seen it in its entirety, I used to watch it on TV whenever I could. This is something very nostalgic for me and it is the first time I heard of "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan, as he worked on many episodes of the show. Mark Snow's theme music "Materia Primoris" is unforgettable and these days curiously I see it used in many memes. In 1998, an X-Files movie was announced (fitting in between Seasons 5 and 6) and I remember being excited about it, and reading in a magazine that it was going to be called "Blackwood" (which was a working title). I watched it in theatre when it came out and later on videotape. It's been years since I watched this movie, so watched it again yesterday and enjoyed it a lot. This was the Extended cut which runs about a minute longer and strangely had a CGI enhancement in one shot that I don't remember being there in earlier versions. The production values are great and the story is engaging, it would work pretty well even if one hasn't seen the show.I did a quick sketch (maybe 30 min) of Mulder and Scully from one of the frames in the movie, then afterwards added other images to it (maybe another 30 min). This is not as refined but since I haven't been drawing as regularly as I'd like to, thought I'd do this. Drawing was done with Bic ballpoint pen on A5 notebook, this post has a scan and some other related content that I'd posted on Stories.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpointpendrawing#thexfiles #xfiles #thexfilesfightthefuture#shotoniphone #artistsoninstagram #sketch #ballpointsketch#646 / 13-Mar-22

Seinfeld (1989-1998)Created by Larry David and Jerry SeinfeldI'm currently on Season 5 of this classic 90s sitcom and the show is very entertaining. Last time I drew Kramer, now I drew Jason Alexander as George, from the episode where he tells Jerry to say that his house is "Vandelay Industries", Art Vandelay being a fictional name that he refers to. The drawing was done with Bic ballpoint pen on A7 @menorah.stationery sketchbook and this is a scanned version.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpointpendrawing#seinfeld #george #artistsoninstagram #sketch #netflix #artvandelay #vandelayindustries #645 / 7-Mar-22

The Batman (2022)Directed by Matt ReevesMatt Reeves's "The Batman" is one of the two most anticipated movie releases this year, for me (the other is "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness"). The movie was released last Friday and I got to see it twice, once on Friday night and the second time with mom and dad on Saturday.I really liked the movie! The movie stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / The Batman, and this is his second year operating as the vigilante. The storyline has a mysterious serial killer calling himself The Riddler (Paul Dano), killing off certain prominent figures of Gotham City leaving clues for The Batman. Batman working along with Lieutenant Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) has to solve the case and apprehend The Riddler. The movie is very dark and gritty, inspired by David Fincher's "Se7en" and "Zodiac". I loved the visuals, the moody cinematography (Greig Fraser who shot "Dune" too), and the music (Michael Giacchino). I also loved the fact that this movie played up the mystery, thriller and detective elements and was always engaging despite the three hour runtime. Like last year's four hour "Zack Snyder's Justice League" one wouldn't feel that the movie is this long.I drew @zoeisabellakravitz as Selina Kyle from the movie, the drawing was done with 0.5 mm 4B pencil on A5 notebook. You can swipe to see a scan.I was irritated by the muting of certain swear words in the dialogue by our Censor Board, it's a PG-13 movie hence doesn't have strong swearing, so I really don't get why they muted it. Never liked this practice, never will.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#pencil #pencildrawing #pencilart#artistsoninstagram #sketch#thebatman #selinakyle #catwoman #zoekravitz #flatlay #zuvamart @apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone#644 / 6-Mar-22

Watched “The Batman” last night and really liked the movie! It was dark and intense, I loved the tone and the music and cinematography. They also played up the detective element in the story which I really liked. Coincidentally @avinashseye @diaryoftheaesthete @inkboy.in @theonyxmethod also had booked for around the same time, so we thought we would compare notes at 2 AM. But this is a movie where one has to let things sink in, so I posted that Story at around 3:30 AM only! Also shoutout to @_mrin @shrusti_mohanty @missusnair @sketchxwords who saw the movie earlier and were in the “comparing notes” group of people 😀 Here are a set of pictures from yesterday, presented with a red @vsco filter (I remembered there was one from years ago), which fits perfectly with the movie’s vibe. #karthikabhiram @apple #iphone12mini #shotoniphone #symmetry #symmetricalmonsters #thebatman @thebatman #hellohyderabad

Seinfeld (1989-1998)Created by Larry David and Jerry SeinfeldI have recently started watching this classic 1990s sitcom on Netflix. I remember when the show used to be on TV in the late 90s and early 2000s, but I had never watched it. Now that the entire show is on streaming, and on the recommendation of @mangopenciler2.0, I am watching it.The show "about nothing" has Jerry Seinfeld playing a fictionalised version of himself, a standup comedian, and his friends, and is about their daily lives. I'm currently on Season 4 (out of 9) and I'm liking the show.I drew Michael Richards as Kramer (Jerry's next door neighbour) from the show. The drawing was done with Bic ballpoint pen on A5 notebook and this is a scanned version.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#ballpointpen #ballpointpenart #ballpointpendrawing#seinfeld #kramer #artistsoninstagram #sketch #netflix#643 / 2-Mar-22
