Memento (2000)Directed by Christopher NolanThis is an entry for the @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2020 Sunday Prompt Word "Frame", suggested by @artofpc. I thought of a polaroid frame and thus did this sketch based on a frame from the movie.Explanation of the frame would be a spoiler for the movie, so I won't do that. "Memento" is the movie that brought fame to Christopher Nolan, it's a very well made film with parallel story tracks running, one of which runs in reverse. There isn't any other movie like it.The movie subsequently inspired "Ghajini" in Tamil (2005) and later in Hindi (2008).The size of the drawing is one inch square, it was challenging to get the details of the polaroid, especially the eyes. Done with 0.5mm 2B pencil on A6 sketchbook and scanned. Since the Brustro sketchbook had a slight yellowish tint, I made three versions of the scan – one with the tint, one B&W and one with selective B&W.Swipe to see a couple of pictures and the scans. I also posted the picture I used as the cover for the IGTV upload of the Live Video that I did with @aninchaugust yesterday.I completed the drawing yesterday, but took the pictures and did the scans today only.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#memento #miniatureart #pencil #pencildrawing#547 / 16-Aug-20

Entry for the @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2020 Sunday Prompt "Frame" suggested by @artofpc. I thought of doing something photography related because that's the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of "Frame". Three images in this set, all of them are photos of the camera on my Pixel 2 XL.Two of them were shot with camera, with reversed 50mm lens. No other equipment, I simply took off the lens from the camera, pointed it the other way and then shot this. The other one was taken with my older Samsung S7 phone through the DSLR lens. Also tagging @shannu_pixels #macrowithshannu for this. #canon #5dmarkiii #50mm #50mmphotography #macro #teampixel #samsung #galaxys7 #withgalaxy#karthikabhiram

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)Directed by Martin BrestRecently, the three "Beverly Hills Cop" movies have come to Netflix and I watched the first one a couple of days back, and started watching Part 2 now.The first "Beverly Hills Cop" movie is a classic, a very entertaining action comedy with Eddie Murphy as Detroit cop Axel Foley, who comes to Beverly Hills to track down the people who killed a friend of his. It moves at a very fast pace, the script and direction are all great. It has a terrific soundtrack of 80s pop songs and a wonderful score by Harold Faltermeyer. The "Axel F" theme music is unforgettable. The only criticism one could make is that a couple of the action scenes could be better, but that's not really a major drawback. I remember renting the first movie on videotape as a kid and watching it quite a few times. I had the audio cassette of the soundtrack back in the 1990s and listened to the songs often. Part 2 is also pretty good so far, I only watched that one a couple of times so I don't remember it like I do the first film. Part 3 was amusing at best but overall an inferior film in my opinion.I drew Eddie Murphy as Axel from the movie, the drawing was done with 0.5mm 2B mechanical pencil on A6 sketchbook. There are a couple of photos and a scan. Also, swipe to see the square before the drawing was done! The size of the drawing is one inch square, as today's entry (the drawing was completed at around 4 AM, I took the photos and scanned it now) for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2020.@netflix_in #netflix #beverlyhillscop #eddiemurphy#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#pencildrawing #pencil #miniatureart#pixel2xl #teampixel #canon #5dmarkiii#546 / 15-Aug-20

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)Directed by Steven SpielbergThe follow up to "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is a prequel story, set a year before the events of the first film, and sees Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and two companions crash land in India, where they are asked by a village to retrieve a sacred stone that has been stolen by the Thuggee cult.I recently watched all four of the Indiana Jones movies on @primevideoin (they are there on @netflix_in as well) and enjoyed them all. The third ("Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade") was my favourite. I loved the visuals in the first three (all were shot by Douglas Slocombe), and I felt the second one had the best visuals, with its gritty look. The fourth, shot by Janusz Kaminski, with its harsh lighting (a style of the cinematographer) and warmer colours was very different and I didn't feel it suited the film."Temple of Doom" is an odd film in the Indy series, the first and the third are more consistent in tone, whereas this one was quite dark and more violent. This is one of the movies that led to the creation of the PG-13 rating in the US, for movies that had content too strong for very young children, at the same time not strong enough for an R rating and being aimed at adults. Seeing high priest Mola Ram (Amrish Puri) rip out a person's heart surely would have freaked out parents, back in the day, but I'm sure kids would have enjoyed it. Sadly, in future years, many movies rated PG-13 are very tame and don't really have the edge that this one had.The action sequences in all three are great, this one's second half has a sequence set in a mine, which is brilliantly staged. I drew Amrish Puri as Mola Ram from the movie, the drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen, Gelly Roll and a bit of Micron 003 marker on A5 sketchbook and scanned. The size of the drawing is one square inch, for @aninchaugust #aninchaugust #aninchaugust2020.#karthikabhiram #dailymoviesketch#indianajones #ballpointpen #ballpointpendrawing #ballpointpenart#canon #5dmarkiii #50mmphotography #50mm#545 / 12-Aug-20
