Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)Directed by John CarpenterAfter watching "Kaithi" which had a story track with gangsters laying siege to a police station, I wanted to watch this movie. I had seen it several years ago but didn't really remember it, so I watched it today (there's a HD upload on YouTube). The setup for the film is interesting — the bulk of the film is set in a police station due to be closed down, with only a skeleton crew available. A bus carrying three criminals has to stop at the station. When a gang called "Street Thunder" 'marks' the station and moves in for the kill, it's up to the few people inside to make a stand. It's an entertaining action thriller, running just at a little over 90 minutes. Carpenter was homaging the Western and the zombie movie, and for his second big screen outing it's a very well made movie. It was made on a budget of just $150,000 but it looks bigger than that.I love the music score for the movie and today discovered a disco version of the theme on YouTube as well, which I've been listening to on repeat! The movie has one of the few instances in film depicting a little girl getting shot — which is what I drew. The drawing was done with colour ballpoint pens on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#dailymoviesketch #assaultonprecinct13#ballpointpen#496 / 3-Nov-19
