Saaho (2019)Directed by Sujeeth ReddyThis highly anticipated movie was released towards the end of August, and I watched it last weekend. I saw the Telugu version. The story involves an undercover cop, a master criminal, a syndicate of gangsters in the fictional Waaji City, and a MacGuffin called a "Black Box", and showcases some exciting big budget action sequences. The visuals are spectacular, and some of the action scenes were really well done. One must appreciate the attempt at pulling off something of this scale. However, I was disappointed by the movie overall. I didn't find the characters interesting or developed enough. I thought the story actually didn't have much depth to it, so, the convoluted storytelling and twists to jazz up the film didn't feel earned. The tone also was kind of uneven, the humour elements I felt didn't actually work. The cast and crew obviously put a lot of effort into it, and the movie is worth watching and supporting because of that. I just wish it'd have been a better one, deserving of all the hype.I drew Prabhas from the movie, the drawing was done with multi colour ballpoint pen and Gelly Roll pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.I completed this drawing at yesterday's Open Studio Art Meetup at @living_quarter_hyd.
