The Boys (2019)Developed by Eric KripkeI watched this show last week and enjoyed it a lot! It's set in a world where superheroes exist, and imagines what it would be like if Corporations sponsor their activity. Karl Urban is Billy Butcher, who puts together a team to expose corrupt superheroes. Quite a cynical and satirical take on the material, the story is engaging and a lot of fun. The acting is good and the show is quite cinematic (presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio). I actually didn't expect it to be this good. I enjoyed the very darkly funny approach, the strong violence, gore. I have not read the comic series it's based on, but apparently the show is quite tame compared to the source material! Not surprising since the comic was written by Garth Ennis, who wrote the Preacher series which I have read long ago, which pushed boundaries and was adults only stuff.This is a quick (literally — I think I did this in just 5 min) sketch of Antony Starr as Homelander from the show. It was done with a multi colour ballpoint pen on A6 Brustro sketchbook and scanned.
