Incredibles 2 (2018)Directed by Brad BirdPixar's "The Incredibles" is one of my favourite animated movies. I think it's a very well written and entertaining movie. When this sequel was announced (coming 14 years after the first), I was excited for it and I got to watch it on Sunday.The movie picks up immediately where the first film ended. In the fictional 1960s world of the movie, superheroes (called "Supers" here) are outlawed. Businessman Winston Deavor (voiced by Bob Odenkirk who plays Saul Goodman in "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul") has a plan though, to influence world leaders to vote to make Supers legal again. This involves getting Helen / Elastigirl back into action, meaning that Bob Parr / Mr Incredible has to look after his kids. While this is going on, there's a new villain who surfaces – the mysterious Screenslaver, who hypnotises people though broadcast signals.I absolutely loved this movie. It's so entertaining and brilliantly animated. The visuals are splendid, and like the first movie, it's not just for kids, it's well written and takes the characters and the world building very seriously. Like the first, this is what a family oriented world of "Watchmen" would be like. There is a lot of fun to be had here, and emotional moments are always capped off with a bit of humour, which I thought was balanced very well. Michael Giacchino's James Bond-esque music score is superb too. The only criticism I have is that the villain's plotline is rather predictable, and you will have it figured out and wonder why Elastigirl did not. But that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the film.My favourite character was the baby Jack Jack, and he has a lot more screen time here compared to Part 1, and he absolutely steals the show whenever he is on screen. He is probably the most powerful Super, with many abilities (we saw some in Part 1).
