Kaalakaandi (2017)Directed by Akshat VermaOne of my favourite movies of 2011 was "Delhi Belly" – I loved the absurd comedy and the fast paced storyline. That's the reason I was excited to see this movie, "Kaalakaandi" (the name is apparently Marathi slang for when things go completely wrong), since "Delhi Belly" writer Akshat Verma wrote and directed this. This dark comedy is about six main characters – Saif Ali Khan's character and his brother, who is getting married, Sobhita Dhulipala's character and her boyfriend, who attend a party, and two lowlife thugs, played by Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal. By the end the storylines are resolved and they do connect up, but I felt it didn't have the impact as expected. The movie was quite entertaining and funny, and the actors all do a great job, so it's engaging to see nevertheless. Overall I'd rate it a 7/10, definitely worth watching. Maybe just don't go in expecting another "Delhi Belly", though, in many ways, this has a very similar style. This is a drawing of Saif Ali Khan's character from the movie, during his LSD fuelled trip. Drawn with 0.5mm 2B pencil and @prismacolor pencils on Brustro sketchbook and scanned.#315 / 14-Jan-18
