Predestination (2014)Directed by The Spierig BrothersI first saw "Predestination" a couple of years ago and I thought it was an extremely underrated movie that didn't get the attention it deserved. In my opinion it's one of the best movies of 2014. The movie has recently come out on Netflix and I rewatched it some days back, and it's absolutely brilliant.I watched it without knowing much about it and I believe that's the best way to see it. So, I won't give away any plot details except to mention that the movie concerns time travel, an agent trying to stop a bomber, and a character named Jane whose story is utterly fascinating. The movie's engaging story will keep you completely involved, it's got gorgeous cinematography and production design. The movie is based on Robert A Heinlein's short story "All You Zombies", and the filmmakers have set it in a 1970s-80s time period. I have not read the story but this is supposed to be quite a close adaptation. At any rate, the directors wrote the script as well, and considering the complex storyline, it's a very well written movie. The two leads, Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook are excellent in their roles, and Sarah Snook in particular, is simply outstanding in the movie.I also enjoyed The Spierig Brothers' previous movie "Daybreakers" (haven't seen it in a very long time though), but I think this is their best work yet. They are directing the eighth "Saw" movie, "Jigsaw", and I am looking forward to it.This is a drawing of Sarah Snook as Jane from the movie.
